Exploring Life & Business with Crystal Rosario of Classy Hair Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Rosario.

Hi Crystal, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Starting my career as an independent hairstylist and partnered business owner, stepping into running our own salon suite has been both exciting and empowering. Months after months of building my skills behind the chair, I’ve finally taken the leap to create a space that reflects my vision, creativity, and personal brand. Becoming a business owner in a salon suite allows me to offer clients a more personalized experience, where comfort and quality come first. While it comes with new responsibilities—like managing bookings, finances, and marketing—I’m embracing the challenge as part of my growth as both a stylist and entrepreneur. This new chapter represents independence, passion, and the start of building something truly my own.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We all start from the bottom, and one of the biggest challenges in transitioning from working for someone else to running your own business is starting from scratch and rebuilding a full clientele. Managing a business while still working behind the chair hasn’t been a smooth journey—it’s had its ups and downs—but it’s also not as difficult as many fear. Growth requires taking risks, and every challenge along the way has been a valuable part of that process.

We’ve been impressed with Classy Hair Studio, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I specialize in customized haircuts and color, with a focus on helping my clients not only look beautiful but truly feel it. Beyond the creative aspect of my work, what sets me apart is the genuine kindness and care I extend to every person who sits in my chair. I treat my clients like family, creating an environment where they feel prioritized, comfortable, and free to be themselves. My salon space is more than just a place for beauty—it’s a place for relaxation, openness, and connection without judgment. I don’t do hair for the money; I do it because witnessing the joy and confidence that comes from a successful transformation is the most rewarding part of my career. Helping others feel their best is, to me, the greatest form of payment.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a quiet and reserved child who preferred to play it safe. I was obedient and cautious, often too shy to even speak up or order my own food at a restaurant. Born and raised in Guam, I was fortunate to experience a humble and grounded upbringing surrounded by family, culture, and creativity. I’ve always had a deep appreciation for art, music, writing, and spending time outdoors. While I wasn’t particularly athletic, I found joy in dancing hula, which allowed me to express myself through movement and tradition. Even from a young age, though, my heart was drawn to hair—it was a creative outlet that felt natural to me and one that would later become my true calling.
