Conversations with Cameron Mottet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Mottet.

Hi Cameron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since high school I knew I had a love for nutrition and health. I decided to further my education at the University of Arkansas where I got my undergraduate degree in nutrition. I then went to Saint Louis University to pursue my Masters degree in Nutrition and complete my dietetic internship. From there my goal was to find a job in sports nutrition, however, due to covid that was not possible for me at the time. I ended up working full-time at a hospital as a Registered Dietitian but my passion for sports nutrition was still there. Instead of forgoing my dreams, I decided to start my own business Thrive Nutrition KC so that I could follow my dreams and work in sports nutrition.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road as working full-time and trying to start a business at the same time is very hard to do. I end up working nights and weekends for my business which limits time for family and friends.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a Registered Dietitian for Thrive Nutrition KC I mainly focus on sports nutrition and weight management. I really enjoy working with runners such as high school, college, or recreational runners. I do accept insurance and am mainly a virtual practice.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future including putting more time and energy into the growth of my private nutrition practice. Hoping to be more involved in social media and grow my clientele.
