Hi Erick Gerson , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2006, I began my transformative journey after moving from Mexico. It was when I volunteered for my husband’s theater company that I fell truly in love with makeup. The excitement of creating looks for the stage sparked a passion within me, and I dedicated myself to practicing hard and exploring every opportunity to improve my skills.
My dedication soon paid off when I was contacted by MAC Cosmetics. I received incredible training there and became a makeup artist for two of their locations in the city. This experience opened many doors for me, allowing me to work with other major companies that helped grow my career.
Eventually, I decided it was time to take a leap and create my own brand and studio. Today, I’m proud to say that I’ve worked with all the TV stations in town, and I’ve been featured in several magazines as one of the top makeup artists in Grand Rapids. I even earned the title of “Best Makeup Artist of the West.”
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with several celebrities, and I continue to do what I love every day. I also have the joy of training many new artists and people in general, sharing my passion for makeup with those who want to learn.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve always have been self-sufficient however been ann immigrant from Mexico where English isn’t my native language, and navigating the beauty industry with this barrier was often daunting. I faced times when I didn’t have the support of my coworkers, which made the journey feel isolating. During those moments, I had to rely on myself, my husband, and a few close friends who saw the fire in me and believed in my potential to become a better artist and person.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in bridal makeup, and I also work on video and commercial shoots with different production companies, brands, and organizations.
Over the years, I’ve had the chance to do everything from theatrical and film makeup to working with celebrities and creative teams on set.
Around Halloween, things get especially fun — it’s one of my favorite times of the year! I stay busy creating unique and iconic looks for my clients and sharing makeup tips for those who want to take their costumes to the next level.
I’m also known for hosting makeup parties and classes, where I teach everyday people how to feel confident and empowered through makeup. For me, makeup isn’t just about artistry — it’s about connection, creativity, and confidence.
