Today we’d like to introduce you to Izzy & Krystal Gonzalez.
Hi Izzy & Krystal, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Izzy has had a love of travel for as long as he can remember, and when he met me (Krystal) he also introduced me to that same love of travel. Each year we would visit multiple countries, and were always looking forward to planning our next adventure. One day, while planning our next getaway, I mentioned to Izzy that he was so good at planning vacations, that he should do it for a living. As a hairstylist my clients love to hear about my adventures that I get to go on, but I always get asked if I feel safe when I travel. I always tell them that I do, because Izzy is a world traveler and that it helps that he is a native Spanish speaker. So I suggested that he do private tours to Spanish speaking countries. I told him he should take people to places that they would normally be afraid to go, but with someone who speaks the language, it just opens up so many doors. Then he suggested that we both take our love for travel and just become travel agents together. Thus, Ad Astra Travel and Leisure Concierge was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a learning curve for sure, but overall I feel we have had a pretty smooth journey with our business. We are fortunate to have an instant clientele who trusted us to book all of their travel, even with knowing that we were just starting in the business. We have been learning as we go, and have enjoyed every step of the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Izzy has worked it the airline industry for 14 years, with most recently 6 years as a flight attendant with major airline. He has lived in France, Switzerland, Germany, and Mexico. He has traveled to more than 40 countries and been in 122 airports. With all of that experience, it really gives him extensive knowledge when it comes to travel and especially the logistics of travel. And for Krystal, she brings to the table 24 years of experience as a hairstylist. Customer service is incredibly important to her, and she prides herself on being great at being able to read people and anticipate their needs. She has now traveled to 16 countries and is becoming a very confident traveler.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I think that some people might be surprised to learn that in every country we go to, we always seek out a local church to visit. We love spending time in old, beautiful churches. The architecture and history and feeling inside is one of our favorite things
