Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittney Booth.
Hi Brittney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been behind the chair for nearly twenty years, and in that time, my career has gone through so many evolutions — but nothing has stretched and grown me quite like owning a salon. When I opened Vibe KC in 2020, I just knew I wanted to create a place where people felt comfortable, inspired, and cared for. At the time, my focus was mostly on building something beautiful and welcoming for clients and stylists. But as the years went on, I realized my real passion was really creating a space that supports stylists in building lives and careers they love.
Owning a salon has come with plenty of highs and lows — moments of deep pride and moments of “what am I even doing?” But I’ve learned to lean into those seasons by investing in coaching, mentorship, and personal growth. Every time I’ve felt stuck, it’s led to the next version of what Vibe KC is meant to be.
Today, Vibe KC has evolved into something even more meaningful than I could’ve imagined when I first opened the doors. We’re a small but mighty team of stylists, one incredible nail tech, and an esthetician who’s passionate about skin health — all sharing the same goal: to make people feel like their most authentic, confident selves. My vision now is clearer than ever — to create a space rooted in connection, creativity, and growth, where both clients and artists feel seen, supported, and inspired every single day
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road. Owning a salon has been one of the most rewarding — and humbling — experiences of my life. There have been seasons where everything flowed beautifully, and others where it felt like I was pushing a boulder uphill.
From navigating the uncertainty of the world and economy, to learning how to manage different personalities and team dynamics, to realizing when certain people or approaches just weren’t the right fit — each challenge has shaped me into a stronger and more self-aware leader.
There have been times I’ve questioned everything, but those are the moments that always push me to lean back into coaching and growth. I’ve learned that when things feel heavy, it’s usually a sign to look deeper — to realign, recommit, and get clearer on what I want this space to be.
Every obstacle has taught me something new about resilience, leadership, and trust — both in myself and in the process. The ups and downs have truly been the thing that’s built Vibe KC into what it is today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started my career behind the chair as a stylist and brunette specialist, but over the years, my passion has grown far beyond creating beautiful hair. These days, what lights me up most is leading — helping other stylists find their confidence, build their businesses, and create a life they’re proud of both inside and outside the salon.
When I opened Vibe KC, I didn’t realize just how much leadership would stretch me. I’ve learned that running a salon is about so much more than great hair — it’s about people. It’s about learning how to support a team through change, celebrate wins big and small, and create a culture where everyone feels seen and valued.
What makes Vibe KC special is the energy that fills the space — it’s laid-back but intentional, creative but grounded. I’m proud that we’ve built a salon where stylists can grow at their own pace, clients feel like part of something genuine, and everyone leaves feeling a little more like themselves. Watching my team evolve and seeing their success unfold has become the most rewarding part of my journey.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about our city is how it has this perfect mix of creativity and comfort. The live music scene, the cozy coffee spots, the food (don’t even get me started on the food!) — there’s always something new to discover. I love that Kansas City has that smaller-city feel but still brings so much culture and community. And being able to hop on a quick flight to just about anywhere is a huge bonus for someone who loves to travel.
What I love least is that we don’t have better public transit from the southern parts of the city to downtown. There are so many local gems to experience, and it’d be amazing if getting around was a little easier for everyone to enjoy them.
