Hi Griffin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi, I’m Griffin Mott, founder of Griffin Mott Consulting, a digital marketing company based in Kansas City.
I grew up in the Overland Park area and went on to play collegiate golf at Washburn University, where I earned my bachelor’s degrees in Marketing and Finance and later a Master of Business Administration. I’ve always been curious by nature and driven to keep learning.
With those skillsets, I started noticing how many small businesses struggled to keep up with marketing trends and technology. They were working hard but missing opportunities online. That realization sparked something in me. I wanted to take what I’d learned and help business owners grow through smarter, more sustainable marketing.
My competitive edge comes from a lifetime of golf. That mindset of putting in the long hours, constantly improving and adapting to every challenge carries over into my business. When I don’t know something, I dig in until I do. That’s the same energy we bring to our clients. We want to win together.
At Griffin Mott Consulting, our primary focus is SEO (Search Engine Optimization). We help businesses grow their website traffic and conversions organically, rather than relying solely on ads (although we do offer pay-per-click services… we just want to help you save more money). With Google’s algorithms evolving constantly, we make sure our clients show up on the first page of search results. Our team is committed to providing the highest level of strategy, transparency, and results you’ll find across Kansas City.
We work with small business owners who wear a lot of hats: the ones running operations, sales, and everything in between. Our focus is to take marketing off their plate so they can focus on what they do best. We use our passion for marketing to grow theirs.
Outside of work, I recently got married and now share life with my amazing wife and our two senior dogs. In my free time, you’ll usually find me on the golf course, at weekly trivia nights, or spending time with my church community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs. When I first started Griffin Mott Consulting, I had to do everything from being a marketing strategist and accountant, to a web developer and sales rep. All of it. I knew how to help other businesses grow, but growing my own came with a whole new set of challenges.
Like many small business owners, I put in the work day after day and eventually hit a point of doubt and wondering whether I should keep going. The morning after I had all of those doubts, it all clicked. I woke up to new client inquiries in my inbox, website traffic hitting new highs, and my passion was restored.
One of the biggest hurdles early on was building trust. Many small business owners have been burned by agencies that overpromise and underdeliver, so I had to prove that my approach was different. I made it a priority to put myself in their shoes and understand how to help each client succeed in their specific market. That’s the fun part of what I do. I get to work with businesses in all kinds of niches, but it takes time, consistency, and a lot of late nights.
Another challenge was learning to balance growth with quality. As my client base expanded, I didn’t want to lose the personal connection that makes our work effective. We make sure every client feels like they’re our most important one through on-time communication, reliable deliverables, and, most importantly, a genuine relationship.
Looking back, those challenges ended up being some of the best learning experiences. They pushed me to become a better leader, a better listener, and a better problem-solver for my clients.

Griffin Mott Consulting is a Kansas City–based digital marketing company specializing in SEO (Search Engine Optimization). While we offer a range of marketing services, SEO is our biggest passion. What does success mean to you?
Of course, seeing our clients’ traffic, leads, and revenue grow is rewarding, but what means the most is hearing a business owner say, “We’re finally getting calls again,” or “We’re busier than we’ve ever been.” That’s when I know we’ve done our job.
Sometimes, websites will lose traffic. Business owners will spin out. But then we take a deeper look and realize that even though traffic is down, the number of incoming qualified leads has doubled. We focus on driving more potential revenue to your page, not just an increase in traffic.
Success also means building trust. In an industry where it’s easy to overpromise, I take pride in knowing our clients feel confident and informed about what we’re doing and why.
On a personal level, success is waking up excited to work with people who believe in what they do. I get so much joy hearing business owners brag about their company and go on and on about their offerings.
At the end of the day, if my clients are thriving, my team is proud of the work we’re doing, and I still have the drive to keep getting better, then that’s success to me.
