Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kristench Ly of Overland Park

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kristench Ly. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Kristench, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes, daily! Being quick to pause instead of quick to respond is a daily practice for me. I focus on making deliberate decisions, taking my time, and truly enjoying that moment of calm before I act. This holds true for both my personal life and my business. For example, I have recently spent some time pausing to determine a new direction for my offerings. I realized that if I had rushed myself, I may have been trying to force something that wasn’t a good fit. It’s completely okay to shift gears as I learn more about my strengths, and I’m glad I took the time to explore and find the next path in my evolution.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kristen Lynch of KC Health Coach. I’m a board-certified health and wellness coach with a focus on helping clients in the Kansas City area build their ideal wellness life.

My approach is all about partnering with you to explore what wellness truly looks like, create a personalized roadmap, and stay accountable to your goals. I currently work with individuals, couples, and small accountability groups.

This coming year, I’m thrilled to be expanding my reach by developing classes for a local school to help empower younger generations with foundational health knowledge. Eventually, I’d love to incorporate workplace wellness programs into my offerings to help even more people thrive.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose and must now be released is my Inner Critic. This voice served its purpose by helping me manage my actions and stay within the safety lines of what I thought others expected of me.

But I am done being limited. As I release this critic, the limits on my potential lift, and I take full control of writing and rewriting my story. I am now driven by my faith and making choices that align with my truest values, rather than the fear-based expectations of that inner voice.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me I’m resilient and that I actually thrive on challenges. Success is comfortable, but it’s within those hardships that I find my deepest strength.

I see this learning apply to everything—my family, health, and career. Suffering has basically reframed my view: now, I see every challenge as a positive way for personal growth rather than just a setback. That perspective is something success could never have given me.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie the health and wellness industry tells itself is that wellness equals perfection.

This belief fosters an all-or-nothing mentality that sets people up to fail the moment they miss a workout or eat a treat. We focus too much on rigid adherence and not enough on sustainability.

The truth is, success isn’t found in perfection; it’s found in finding balance and continually evolving as your goals, body, and life circumstances change. That’s the messy, necessary work where lasting health is actually built.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Spending more time with my loved ones: connecting, playing games, and having deep conversations. Professionally, I’m an extrovert and find ease in exploring and coaching individuals; however, in my personal life, I’m an introvert.
