Today we’d like to introduce you to Darcee Blanchard.
Hi Darcee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My dance studio began with the help of my grandad ( thus grandads
Dream signs ) he helped me find building and that day we signed papers on the building he passed away while mowing the grass. We decided to make him a part of all we do ! We have granddad‘s dream on all of our T-shirts and signs. He passed away in 1991 and his dream continues., I started my Studio at a very young age as a hobby never dreaming 42 years later it would still be a reality and now my daughter has graduated from high school and is continuing the Legacy. I have had thousands of people pass through the studio and now some of their children and even grandchildren are returning, which is an amazing feeling.. My studio has
always been based on family atmosphere where the parents and family are very involved with all that we do. I know their families , and even know how their day at school has been . Over the years we have had many students continue dancing on cruise ships, in Los Angeles on college dance teams as well as NFL teams. I am
Very proud of all of them and what I have built for so many children in our town as well as neighboring cities .
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
. I always love to come to the studio every day and makes me proud to see students accomplish not just
dance but life skills . I always say we are raising good humans and pride myself in that and touching as many
Lives as i can ! My job is very fulfilling and I have a special bond with all of the kids.It is always never felt like a job so I would have to say it was more smooth sailing. Of course there have been a lot of times when other people complicated things and issues, tried to cause problems , but i have never let them interfere with my love of dance and my students .I focus on all the positive things that happen every day at our lil pink building !!! Its a very special place with special families and blessed with so much love ❤️
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We teach all kinds of dance at the studio from ballet , jazz ,hip-hop, acrobatics to contemporary, lyrical, pom-pom and tap. We have an amazing competition team that travels and wins national awards everywhere we go. We have a huge recreational program where kids come in once a week and have so much fun while learning a great deal.. What sets us apart from others is family involvement. We allow the parents to watch all classes and stay involved and we are very personal with the kids that come in. We run a professional studio with a very laid-back family oriented atmosphere.. It has worked for 42 years and I still believe in how we do things.! We have always reached out to help others with fund raisers etc when needed and love to give back to the community .
What’s next?
I am looking forward to continuing doing what I love for as long as I am able, and then passing the studio onto my amazing daughter Krimzyn , She was one of our national winners on our team for many years . She has a love of dance much like my own with her love of kids and will be amazing.. For now, I am enjoying teaching side-by-side with her and we have traveling to many studios and choreographing together, which is so much fun in the next chapter in our journey together. We have. amazing staff of teachers and choreographers. Most of my teachers were also my students with a few other additions who bring so much to the table. All of our teachers are young and energetic, and we strive to stay up on the latest dance styles to keep our children current. We attend lots of conventions and teachers meetings to stay on top of all the latest news and styles. I feel we
are very “up to date “ with all styles and latest dance . It changes so much so to stay current is important to us and our students . The love they also feel when they walk in the door also makes me smile and realize how BLESSED I am for God to allow me to continue doing what i love with the people I love Our theme for this season is “Theres no place like this so THIS MUST BE THE PLACE”
