Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Haltom.
Hi Candace, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started in marketing back in 2018 when I was invited to attend a business luncheon for a local chamber of commerce through the bank I worked at in 2017. I watched the Marketing Director grab marketing materials like pens, flyers, brochures, and a table. When we got to the luncheon, I helped him set up everything we’d brought, and he introduced me to local business owners who were either just getting started on their journey or were veteran entrepreneurs trying to connect locally. Talking to them, they all had the same issue — They didn’t know how to get their business to reach more people. It was really fascinating and I really wanted to help them. So, after that day, I did a LOT of research in marketing and what I would need to do to start my own marketing business.
In 2018, I started Word of Mouth Marketing & Business Development – A marketing business that helped other small businesses grow through different kinds of marketing. I helped with social media, websites, offline marketing, print advertising, and I literally fell in love. I made my first five figures by becoming a one-stop shop for all small businesses and leveraging referrals to keep growing monthly. I kept that business until 2021 and then I decided to take a break to focus on myself and my daughter after trying to juggle both mommy hood and entrepreneurship and then diving headfirst into depression.
In 2023, I jumped back into marketing, this time by helping moms who were Notaries learn how to market their business while being a present parent. I didn’t really feel fulfilled in the Notary space, but I was happy to see that my passion for marketing hadn’t completely died down and that a lot of the marketing strategies I’d used in the past to help me grow were still working.
Then in 2024, an old friend reached out asking me if I wouldn’t mind helping her manage her social media platforms. And that really helped me kick off my coaching journey with moms. Through helping her (who was also a mom), I was able to connect with other moms who were struggling to juggle being a present parent while trying to grow their businesses. So, I switched my niche to becoming an Offline Marketing & Business Growth Coach for moms.
Now, I teach busy moms how to start and grow five figure businesses; by using the skills they already have at home without burnout. My specialty is using mostly offline marketing strategies to help them learn how to incorporate marketing into their day-to-day mommying without having to be attached to their phones, creating content and trying to chase the algorithm.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. Most of my challenges were struggling with my mental health and trying to do everything myself. I wasn’t taking time for me (or my daughter). Every single minute, from wake up to sleep was dedicated to my business. I even quit my full-time job to go all in on my business and once everything came crashing down, I ended up having to shut the business down, find another job, and take a break from something I was once so passionate about.

Moms Making Money is a marketing and business growth company that helps busy moms monetize their skills without sacrificing themselves or their families. What I want moms to know about being a mom who works a full-time job and trying to build a business that helps them finally stop saying “not this time” to their kids, is that YOU DON’T HAVE TO CHOOSE! You can have everything you want and still be the present mom who gives their kids the life they deserve. You just need a solid plan that flows all worlds together.
My job is to help them get there. I don’t just teach moms how to grow or promote a business with the basic “network, post 3 times a day, get business cards” bullsh*t. I actually teach them how to schedule “Mom days off” where they do one thing solo without the kids that THEY want to do in order to refill their cups. I show them how to outsource their mommy chores to free up more time to focus on their kids and their business. I also teach them how to promote their business while they’re out running errands, doing laundry at the laundromat, picking up the kids from school, so that they are adding marketing into their everyday routines,
Why? Because there was no one like me teaching how to navigate running a business, maintaining a household and working a full-time job without giving something up, when I was starting out and I always wished that there was. So now, I am that person. Everything I learned from struggling to grow, to hitting five figures, to crashing out comes out in my teachings.
Once a month, I teach a free 2-hour live masterclass that any mom is welcome to join that goes over the basics of starting a business, promoting a business, and refilling their cup. Additionally, I offer 1:1 coaching sessions for moms who want to build a marketing and growth strategy for their specific business and start making money in 30 days. Lastly, I am bringing a paid online networking and coaching community to life over the next couple of weeks for moms who want to meet new likeminded mompreneurs, build business partnerships, and take their business to the next level with weekly coaching and live trainings.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a reader, a little rebellious (I think probably more than I’m letting on lol) and always creative. When I think back to how I became to be this person who is so passionate about being a successful entrepreneur, I remember that I used to crotchet purses and tried to sell them lol. I think I had to be like 9 or 10 years old and I of course had no idea what I was really doing but I knew my purses were cute and I wanted money. I didn’t like being told what to do so I was always in trouble for something lol and I had no problem speaking my mind.
