Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Torres.
Hi Gabriel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Since I was young, owning a business was always a dream. It just never came to fruition through most of my life. Through ups and downs, and ideas good and bad, it just felt as if it wasn’t meant to ever be. I made many moves to better my situation after losing my wife in 2002 to a drunk driver incident. Leaving me and my two sons desperately trying to piece our lives back together. I moved on eventually remarrying and having another son. Teaching all of us to learn to love again. They all three are now working for me. Which being family owned and operated after having lost what we felt was our family, feels amazing.
So I Recieved a small settlement from the accident but did not have the knowledge or capacity to start a business even though at that time I wanted so for myself. But life had its ways of stripping me down but I never gave up on the dream. Fast forward to February 2024 I Recieved a settlement from a workman’s comp injury and I chose at that time that I was making the move. I bootstrapped the business with a $20,000 personal investment. And I hit the internet and AI hard as I could to dive myself into the business start up world. Don’t ask me how I got there I don’t know. What I do know is that it took hours of reading, hours of videos, and countless conversations with AI. But here I am a business startup owner of RapiServ Mobile LLC. This all falls on the hard work I did going to Aviation Institute of Maintenance in Kansas City in 2011. Also, years of diesel and automotive work. So I just figured I would put all my skills to the test from the top to the bottom of business and here we are. Payroll and bookeeping I do all myself through use of free tools. I have recently upgraded to Quickbooks since having some revenue generated and a positive outlook on the business I did all I could to save as much money in house. I formed the LLC through Legalzoom and I established an office in Minnesota where I reside. Me and my Son Xavier operate the Minnesota office. And Treden and Octavios my two other sons operate the Missouri Office.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Bo it has not been a smooth road. Being very honest, it’s been quite difficult. I have had to talk myself out of giving up a couple of times. We got hit a fraudulent charge back early in the startup on what would have been a good capital building sale for us and because I personally made a few mistakes in the payment process I cost my company an almost $5000 setback financially, which we are currently processing and attempting to weather at this time. It hit us hard and was a very expensive lesson to learn in small business startup. But luckily our sales have generated enough revenue to keep is in the black and operating, though we are doing it on a very small budget. Which has planning some fundraisers this fall to help being in some funds to help with capital.

My children, Treden Torres who is 29, Xavier Torres who is 27, and Octavios Torres who is 20. They deserve the credit as employees right now facing the challenges of balancing two jobs and families to build a nest egg for the future of their mothers and myselves grandchildren and for future generations to come. Striving for generational wealth and health is the goal.
