Today we’d like to introduce you to Nx Blame.
Hi Nx , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey as a musical artist began back in high school, sparked by the encouragement of an English teacher who saw something in my writing. That spark turned into a passion the moment I went home and started writing my first lyrics. Around the same time, my little cousin began exploring music too, and together we filled up countless notebooks with our ideas. We’d practice on our own, then come together to challenge and inspire each other to get better.
We recorded our first 50 songs on old cellphones—raw, unfiltered, and full of heart. As we grew older and our sound matured, we found a local studio where we could bring our music to life. Every other weekend, we’d be in the booth, learning, experimenting, and growing. I’d often hang around even when I wasn’t recording, just to watch others and soak up everything I could. Today, music is more than just a passion—it’s a part of who I am. Each song I create tells a piece of my story, and through that, I hope to connect with others on their own journeys.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, one of my biggest challenges was figuring out what kind of music I actually wanted to make. I experimented with a lot of different genres, trying to find a sound that felt true to me. On top of that, finding the right production for each song was a struggle—I had the ideas, but not always the right beats or sound to bring them to life. Eventually, I found my home in hip-hop and R&B, and that’s when things started to click. But even then, I didn’t want to just make music that sounded like everyone else’s. Creating my own unique sound became my focus. I worked hard to develop a blend of hip-hop and trap, with heavy, distorted bass and a vibe that felt original and personal. It took time, patience, and a lot of trial and error, but today I can confidently say I’ve found my sound—and I truly enjoy the process of creating every song.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a hip-hop and R&B artist from Kansas City, Missouri. I specialize in creating raw, emotional music that tells honest stories about my life—especially my love life and personal experiences. My songs are deeply personal, and I always aim to connect with listeners on a real level, making them feel seen and understood through my words. I’m most known for tracks like Paris/Hate and Open/911 Bite Me, which have resonated with a lot of people because of their vulnerability and the emotion behind them. My sound blends hip-hop, R&B, and trap, with heavy, distorted bass and melodic elements that give it a unique edge. That fusion is what truly sets me apart—it’s not just the lyrics, but the whole atmosphere I create with each song. One of the moments I’m most proud of so far is filming my first music video for Open/911 Bite Me. The quality turned out great, and the entire process was something I really enjoyed. It showed me a new side of storytelling, and I’m excited to keep growing and bringing more visuals to life in the future.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has played a small but meaningful role in my journey. I believe in creating opportunities for myself—by showing up, performing, and putting myself in spaces where I can grow. That mindset led me to attend open mic events and actively engage with my local music scene. One moment of good luck that stands out was meeting a great friend who happened to host an open mic event. That connection turned into something much bigger. I started attending the event regularly and watched it grow week after week. Eventually, I was allowed to perform on their stage, which meant a lot to me and helped me reach new audiences. That open mic, known as One Mic Stand KC, has become a space where many talented artists come together to share their music—and I’m grateful to be a part of that community. So while hard work and consistency have driven my path, I’ll always recognize the role that a little bit of luck—and the right connections—have played along the way.
