Life & Work with Ciara of Westport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ciara.

Hi Ciara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career in the music and entertainment industry in my early 20s, planning and promoting live music events across Kansas City. I gained hands-on experience working with local radio stations 96.5 The Buzz and 98.9 The Rock, where I helped produce concerts and community events that connected artists with fans. I later joined a music production company, contributing to the planning and execution of large-scale music festivals, further deepening my passion for live entertainment, artist relations, and creating unforgettable guest experiences. I also created fun block parties with local artists to bring the community together. After years in the industry I decided to take a change in my career to more private and finer dining events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This was not a walk in the park at all. I have always had the dream of one day owning my own company, but never really had the guts to execute it. I am finally confidante in my skills that I finally pulled the trigger and here I am today, the beginning to my journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Event and Hospitality specialist that just launched her new Event Production company with my fiance called Loftus House productions. We plan and execute events from small dinner parties to large concerts at local venues. I’ve always wanted to entertain my city, and knowing a lot of people in the music, service, and production industries I’ve found myself creating the start to my dream!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I recently left my hourly event planning job that I love in hopes to thrive in my new career as a Business Development Manager for a local venue. While working there I was making great money and got awesome experience in large intimate events such as weddings, class reunions, and high profile private events. After thriving there unfortunately the company decided to close its Kansas City location. This felt like the end of the world, my dream job ripped out of my hands. It wasn’t fair. After a week of trying to “get my life together ” I realized this was actually a blessing in disguised. Being laid off from what I thought was my dream job actually gave me the time and motivation to finally work on myself and pursuing my actual dream!
