After 27 years as a high school business teacher, I decided it was time to practice what I preached and turn my passion into a profession. Risk-taking was never my strong suit, but I wanted to create something special for my community. That dream became Tammi Sue’s Upcycle Mercantile—a gathering place filled with charm, creativity, and treasures from over 35 local makers.
Located in the heart of Buckner—a town that feels like it stepped out of a Hallmark movie—we lovingly restored an old building into a beautiful storefront. With its original wood beams, exposed brick, tin details, awnings, and sparkling chandeliers, Tammi Sue’s is as unique as the items inside.
Every day feels like Christmas here! I get to showcase an ever-changing variety of quality, affordable products:

Like any small business, Tammi Sue’s is built on hard work, creativity, and a commitment to always bringing something new and exciting to our customers. I love collaborating with the community to design fresh offerings, whether that’s unique products, engaging classes, or special events that keep our storefront lively and ever-changing.
Sometimes people hear “Buckner” and think we’re far away—but in reality, we’re easy to get to and well worth the trip! From the charm of our historic building to the variety of treasures inside, every visit is designed to feel like an experience, not just a shopping stop.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t be afraid to make your dreams a reality. Ask questions, seek advice, and surround yourself with strong mentors. When I first started writing my business plan, I was told it wouldn’t work—that it wasn’t a good idea. For a moment, I felt defeated. But instead of giving up, I took the constructive criticism and used it as fuel to prove that I could succeed.
Now, as we enter our third year at Tammi Sue’s, we continue to grow, thrive, and bring new offerings to our community while fostering positive relationships.
