TaJae’ Carter shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning TaJae’, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Over the past year embarked on a weight loss journey and have since fell in love with the gym. Really working out in general. I did Pilates and yoga for the first time and it has really sparked something in me. I feel empowered everytime I go to the gym or take a class.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is TaJae’ but a lot of my clients call me Taj. I’m an esthetician of five years now and my journey has been amazing. I started my business out of the basement in my home in 2019 and as of 2025 I’ve opened my first storefront spa! I’m currently working on adding a wellness branch to my spa where I offer monthly pilates and yoga classes. My interest in making people look and feel good isn’t just surface level, I have a goal of a well rounded over-all wellness and that includes their physical self.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My husband has taught me the absolute most about work. He is the most hard working, dedicated person I’ve ever known and he inspires me so much.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life was losing my grandmother to lung cancer in 2015. I was young, still making mistakes, still needing her guidance and love. I’m now an established woman, responsible and successful and it breaks my heart that I can’t return the favor and care for her the way she did for me. The thought of her kind, warm heartedness is what helps me be ok with her absence.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that being the best (according to my own standards) really matters to me. I am a perfectionist at heart.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I absolutely could because again, I am a perfectionist at heart. But let’s dig into that. In my world “my best” is a measurement determined by my clients. And their praise is the result of my best effort given. If I receive no praise I would never know it was my best. Like yes in my head I know I tried but the praise is the confirmation.
