Candy Masuch shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Candy , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
On October 4th we hosted a Coat Drive for Project Warmth. We put a lot of work into this coat drive and are very proud of the turn out! We were able to get awesome donations for the raffle as well as 44 donated winter items! This will be an annual event every fall moving forward.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
KC Candy Homes is a mother-son real estate team proudly serving the Kansas City Metro area in both KS & MO. Our team combines professionalism and heart; specializing in helping first time home buyers find their perfect start and guiding clients through luxury real estate transactions with expertise. Beyond real estate, we’re passionate about giving back to our community through local charities and our annual KC Candy Homes/Project Warmth Coat Drive, helping keep Kansas City residents warm year after year.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
That answer is easy; my mother. As a single mom she worked tirelessly to keep her 4 kids cared for and the bills paid showing me the true meaning of perseverance and work ethic. She passed away two years ago in November, but her strength and determination live on through me (us) and through the values at the core of our business.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was definitely a time I almost gave up; working through the COVID-19 pandemic. The world felt uncertain, clients were scared to move or allow people into their homes, and open houses came to a halt overnight. It was hard to stay motivated when everything we relied on to connect with people suddenly stopped. But instead of giving up, I focused on learning, adapting and finding new ways to serve safely. That time reminded me why I started; helping people find home, even in uncertain times!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies that the real estate industry tells itself is that it’s easy… that all you have to do is “put yourself out there” and success will follow. The truth is, real estate takes grit, consistency and heart. Behind every sale is long hours, setbacks and constant learning. It’s not just about posting on social media or showing houses. It’s about navigating emotions, finances and major life decision for your clients. The agents who succeed are the ones who treat this as a calling, not just a career.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If we retired tomorrow our clients would probably miss our heart and hustle. We treat every deal like it’s our own home on the line and we never stop fighting for what’s best for them. Whether it’s calming nerves, finding creative solutions or going the extra mile to make sure everything feels right we pour ourselves into every step. That personal investment is what our clients feel most.
