Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawnya Davis.
Hi Tawnya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I would say Manna Mental Health was born out of both wilderness and wonder.
For 14 years, I have worked across crisis respite, corrections, inpatient and outpatient therapy, and residential treatment—walking alongside people in their darkest nights. I enjoyed aspects of the work, but I also saw how many systems left both clients and clinicians spiritually starved and emotionally exhausted.
After my own experiences with trauma, chronic illness and burnout, I began to understand healing in a fuller, more integrated way…one that includes the body, the nervous system, spirituality, community, and the quieter rhythms of restoration. When I moved to Kansas from Oregon early 2023, I felt lost and out of place, adjusting to a new environmeant and grieving the loss of several family members that passed away within months of living here. Fumbling through the “wilderness” and trying to figure out next steps with my career, Manna Mental Health was born late 2024.
The word manna symbolizes daily sustenance in the wilderness: food from heaven that was just enough for each day. But for me, it’s also a metaphor for so many things: nourishment, presence, provision, and the sacred relationship between food, body, and soul. It reminds me that healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about receiving what’s needed in this moment, with grace.
In my work, I integrate the science of mental health with holistic principles, helping clients find balance through both psychological insight and embodied care. I strive to make sure I am cultivating a space that feels safe, compassionate, and deeply human; where people can reconnect to meaning, wholeness, and the daily bread of being alive.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely not been smooth and honestly, I have lived through many experiences that have been traumatic. In fact, I think that’s where I have earned a deep well of empathy and compassion for those I serve. I’m sure many people would be surprised if they knew my background. I think that’s part of what makes my work so meaningful and how I am able to connect with others so easily.
Over time, like many helpers, I reached a point where I was deeply depleted from years of giving more than I had. Add to that my own health challenges and working through post-traumatic growth… there were times I wasn’t sure I could keep doing this work at all. But those experiences became the greatest teachers. They slowed me down enough to learn about the nervous system, trauma recovery, and the body’s incredible capacity for healing. They also forced me to find gentler rhythms and ways of working that are sustainable, both for me and for the people I serve.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Manna Mental Health is a trauma-informed therapy practice that blends science, soul, and gentleness. It was born out of a longing to integrate my Scandinavian heritage to my work. My logo, the dala horse, symbolizes strength and resilience. I work with highly sensitive, intuitive, and spiritually attuned clients who want more than symptom management: they want meaning and restoration. My approach integrates neuroscience, somatic awareness, and spirituality to help people reconnect with their bodies and their faith, spiritual path or personal sense of purpose. What sets Manna apart is its atmosphere of sacred calm, simplicity, and the reminder that healing doesn’t have to be rushed or earned. Manna teaches how to integrate clinical neuroscience with soul. It’s about daily sustenance, like manna itself—receiving what’s needed for today. I’m proud that Manna Mental Health bridges clinical science and spiritual depth in a way that feels modern, compassionate, and human. It’s not about quick fixes…it’s about sustainable, soul-aligned healing.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is integrity: in how I live, how I serve, and how I hold space for others. Healing work is sacred, and I believe it should always be done with gentleness, honesty, and deep respect for the person in front of you. I care most about helping people feel seen, nourished, and reconnected to their own wisdom and worth. So much of modern life pulls us toward striving and performance; I want my work to remind people that they are already enough, already loved, already whole. Whether it’s through therapy, integrative health, or simply how I show up in community, my goal is the same: to create spaces where peace and authenticity can take root: one person, one breath, one day’s manna at a time.
