

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rocki Mitchell.
Hi Rocki, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a dancer/gymnast at the age of 4, and once I hit middle school I started playing volleyball, basketball, and ran track until I graduated high school. I didn’t play sports college but I knew athletics and fitness were my passion. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Wellness and decided I wanted to become a fitness instructor.
I had my first personal training client in 2015 and lead my first group fitness class in 2016. Fast forward, 10 years later and I’m still doing what I love, currently an instructor and trainer at a local gym called Deposit The Work Fitness.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. I’ve faced several up and downs along the way, but that’s all part of the story. One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced in this industry was finding the right fit for me. There are so many gyms and each one is ran differently, so it’s important to find the gym that aligns with your values.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I inspire, encourage, and motivate individuals to get active. One of my main goals is to showcase fitness being fun and not a dreadful chore. I’m also a huge proponent for community and being around like minded people is game changer.
I’m currently an instructor at Deposit The Work Fitness, where the focus is on efficient weight training and dynamic interval methods to boost metabolic health to transform both mind and body.
I’m most proud that I’m able to go to work without it ever feeling like work. The saying goes, “choose a job you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
What sets me apart is consistency and being a life student, always eager to learn more.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is when people tell me they changed a habit and started exercising because I inspired them to. It’s also doing what I want on my own time and not being held hostage by others’ time constraints.
