Hidden Gems: Meet Jaclyn Kranz of Saddle Brand Coffee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclyn Kranz.

Hi Jaclyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from Las Vegas. My family and I moved to Missouri to be closer to family and for better opportunities. I’ve always had a dream of being an entrepreneur and a passion for starting businesses. Saddle Brand Coffee was created because in our small town we need a gathering place with good coffee and a convenient location. A coffee shop brings people together and it makes me so happy knowing we are doing something good for our community. When we started, I learned about coffee and the art of espresso. It definitely is craft that you learn over time. We have had great employees over the last couple years that really brought my vision to life and created an environment that people love to be a part of. We have a very exciting future and are expanding to a new location with a full kitchen and will be creating a menu with fresh, from scratch breakfast and lunch menu that will fill a void in our town that we desperately need. My dream is to open multiple locations and offer a unique menu and experience with our “western vibes”.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning and starting a business never is easy. My struggles have been the general struggles- getting people in the door and keeping people coming in the door by trying new things and finding what keeps them coming back. Small businesses like mine struggle to maintain and grow because they are scared to take risks or think far ahead. I’ve realized that the hard times financially and mentally are what makes or breaks you if you can endure. There will always be taxes due, payroll, bills, broken equipment, etc. After you start and figure those things out, you will stop living in desperate mode and actually can work on your business goals and look to the future. That’s why we are pivoting to offer a full menu so that we can take advantage of the opportunity that our area is offering.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Our unique design for our coffee shop is “Modern Western”. I have combined my love of western decor with mid century modern decor. Our roaster is Eleos Coffee in Kansas City and they have created a blend and roast just for us. Customers rave about the flavor and notes of our beans and that’s what ultimately keeps them coming back. When you walk in our doors, you will immediately feel cozy and be greeted by the best baristas that will give you an experience that you won’t forget.
