Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Mckeon.
Hi megan , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
To say that I’m passionate about organization would be an understatement. However, when my dad died by suicide in October 2023, it was an abrupt loss that shifted everything. As the oldest child, the responsibility of sorting through his home and storage units fell on me. It was overwhelming, painful, and yet also illuminating—I realized just how much weight our belongings can carry, both emotionally and physically.
That experience planted the seed for the work I do today. I saw firsthand how organizing and letting go isn’t just about ‘stuff’—it’s about navigating memories, grief, and transition with care. Over time, what started as a way to bring peace into my own life became a calling to help others do the same. With Satori Organized Living and especially through the Satori Legacy Method, I guide people through those same tender, life-changing moments—helping them create clarity, honor what matters most, and find peace in the process.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life itself, as we all know too well, can present us with many setbacks, or struggles — but I believe that’s what shapes growth. Losing my dad so suddenly brought a wave of responsibility and emotions that I wasn’t prepared for. Beyond the grief, I had to step into a leadership role for my family while managing the practical realities that come with loss. That season of life tested me in ways I never expected and taught me how deeply our environment is tied to our well-being.
On top of that, building a business has its own set of challenges—navigating uncertainty, learning new skills, and finding the courage to keep going even when the path isn’t clear. But those struggles have also been my greatest teachers. They’ve shown me resilience, empathy, and the importance of meeting people exactly where they are, both in life and in their homes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Satori Organized Living, I help people create calm, intentional spaces through professional home organization. While I work on everything from closets and pantries to whole-home transformations, I recently launched a new aspect of my business that I refer to as the Satori Legacy Method—a mindful, compassionate approach to downsizing and organizing during major life transitions. I am excited for the opportunity to bring this work home to Parkville, where I grew up. Many of my childhood friends’ parents still live in the houses we spent time in as kids, and now those families are facing the challenge of what to do with decades of belongings. Being able to support them through that process—honoring their memories while creating space for the next chapter—feels deeply meaningful to me
I’m most proud of being able to walk alongside people in those tender moments, whether it’s helping a family after a loss, supporting someone preparing to move, or simply giving a busy household back a sense of peace. What sets me apart is that I don’t just focus on ‘making things look pretty.’ I focus on the emotional side of organization—honoring memories, reducing stress, and creating systems that truly support the way people live.
At the end of the day, I want my clients to feel lighter, more supported, and more at home in their own space.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always very outgoing and loved being involved in both school and sports. At Graden Elementary in Parkville, MO, I was that kid who would stay in during recess to help my teachers organize their classrooms instead of heading out to the playground—it just came naturally to me and was something I genuinely enjoyed.
Athletics were also a big part of my life. I started in gymnastics, which eventually turned into competitive cheerleading, and later I joined the dive team at Park Hill South. Outside of sports, I discovered a passion for Spanish, which opened up a whole new world for me. I was fortunate to study abroad in Costa Rica my senior year of high school, and that experience gave me such an appreciation for culture, language, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. After graduating college, I lived in both Denver and Chicago. No matter where I’ve been—whether a tiny apartment or a sprawling home—I’ve learned that there’s always a solution to bring order and brightness to a space. I am excited to bring my passion for organization to empower individuals and families here in Kansas City to reclaim their space, reduce stress, and create environments that truly support their well-being.
