Hi Katie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My floral journey with flowers began when I was just 7 years old. After seeing a funeral casket spray, I found myself captivated by the emotion and beauty that floral design could bring and that small spark of curiosity eventually grew into my lifelong calling. With a degree in Horticultre from the university of central missouri and over 15 years of green industry experience, I’ve had the privilege of designing for weddings, installing landscapes, managing operations and most importantly connecting with people through flowers. I started my wedding and events business in 2011 and in 2017 I took the next big step in acquiring Garden Gate Floral – a full service flower and gift shop.After navigating the challenges of the pandemic, I merged the two brands into one flourishing floral experience.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s not been a smooth road, lol. There are so many struggles to owning a small business but an equal if not greater amount of victories accomplishments. The pandemic was truly a powerful tool to really look at my business and change and adapt in ways I could have never imagined – mostly for the better. with all the struggles it also means truing petal into smiles, struggles into artistry and each day a garden of possibility.

Garden Gate Floral is a full service florist and gift shop serving Harrisonville, Lee’s Summit, Raymore, Peculiar, Pleasant Hill, Kansas City, Independence, Grandview. we serve a three-county area that includes Cass, Bates, and Jackson counties.
We aim to deliver more than beautiful arrangements- we create moments of connection, comfort and celebration for every milestone life brings. From weddings and baby showers to sympathy tributes and just because bouquets our team pours heart, creativity and care into every design. we are most proud of our dedication to customer service and an overall feel good feeling we give our clients. We want every singe customer to really feel valued and appreciated. We are most know for our customer service and attention to detail. Working with such a product as flowers – seasonal availability – perishable – color variances , the list goes on we try to exceed expectations our customers have of what the finished product might look like
