We’re looking forward to introducing you to Hair Artist and Owner Liz L Bean. Check out our conversation below.
Hair Artist and Owner , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
“I lose track of time when I’m immersed in beauty and inspiration!
Flying to another city to learn. Or relax. whether it’s strolling through Central Park, wandering into an art-filled boutique in SoHo, or soaking in the style on the streets of New York. Those moments remind me why I love what I do: creating spaces where people can pause, feel renewed, and walk away with a touch of that same magic!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Liz, and I’m the owner of Revilo Salon—a luxury salon brand I created to elevate the beauty experience and empower people through hair rituals. Revilo (named after my son, Oliver, spelled backwards) is rooted in four pillars: Elevated Experience, Creative Expertise, Authentic Connection, and Empower Beauty!
What makes my brand unique is the way I blend artistry with intention. From rich multidimensional color to customized rituals, I create an experience that’s as much about how you feel as how you look. I’m currently in an exciting new chapter, transitioning Revilo into a luxe double suite in Parkville, Missouri, where every detail down to the mirrors, scents, and signature services—has been designed to inspire and uplift.
At its core, my work is about transformation: helping people not only look their best but feel grounded, confident, and connected to themselves.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that truly shaped how I see the world was going through addiction and finding my way to sobriety. For a long time, alcohol dulled me—it muted my creativity, my confidence, and my ability to love fully. Getting sober showed me how powerful I can be without it. It opened the door to rediscovering myself as a vibrant, creative, and loving person with endless ideas and energy to share. That journey not only changed how I see myself, but also how I see others—through a lens of compassion, resilience, and possibility.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
One of the defining wounds of my life was addiction.
Sobriety taught me that beneath the pain, I was actually vibrant, creative, and full of love. Healing meant rediscovering myself—and it’s what fuels my purpose now: creating spaces where others can feel transformed, empowered, and seen. And to live my true purpose .
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that what matters most to me is connection and creating meaningful experiences. Whether it’s with my son, my guests in the salon, or the people I love, I value being fully present and making others feel seen. They would also say that creativity and growth drive me
I’m always dreaming up new ideas, learning, and pushing myself forward. At the end of the day, love, creativity, and authenticity are the values that guide me in everything I do.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply is that life isn’t about being loved, comforted, and understood.
it’s about loving, comforting, and understanding others. I first heard this wisdom in an AA meeting, and it shifted everything for me. If we all lived by that, we’d all receive the very things we’re seeking.
That truth has become part of my legacy. As a mother, I want my son to grow up knowing the power of giving love. As a salon owner, I’ve built Revilo to be a space where people feel seen, comforted, and cared for. And as a woman in recovery, I live every day knowing my greatest impact will come from how much love and understanding I put into the world
