We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mindy Gorton. Check out our conversation below.
Mindy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
Contentment. The way our society is built, it’s made to make people crave the next big thing for themselves instead of just realizing what’s already in front of them and what they already have achieved. I think it’s rare to find somebody who is 100% content in who they are and where they are in life and that is something that I am growing into more and more as I age.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! My name is Mindy and I am a bookworm who loves to explore Kansas City. I am a toddler mom who doesn’t like to let the occasional fatigue of motherhood get me down or make me lose sight of my roots. Motherhood can be exhausting, but it is also so rewarding and so exciting and I like to continually find ways to make life magical for not only my kid, but for myself as well. And I love to share all of that with my followers!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mom. I was born with a congenital heart defect that was not diagnosed until immediately after my arrival into this world and though it was scary for my parents, my mom was tough. She made sure to reinforce to the rest of the family that I was strong and a fighter and could be and do anything I wanted. I fully believe it was her early faith and conviction that helped shape me into who I am today.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It doesn’t matter and you’re doing great.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Oh yeah! I have never not worn my emotions or thoughts on my sleeve. What you see is what you get.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Worrying.
