Anesha Johnson of Independence mo on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Anesha Johnson . Check out our conversation below.

Hi Anesha, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Im joyful each and every day I wake up. I have the opportunity to continue to walk in my faith and help change lives!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Certified personal trainer, nutritionist, and fitness coach. Im also one of two trainers for a local gym! What makes myself/brand unique is the way Im able to reach and inspire my clients. I believe devotion and fitness go hand in hand. Before anything else, my relationship with Christ is number one! I love the fact that my clients are encouraged or can be encouraged by the word even when they’re not in a great space themselves and encourage others to push through no matter what.

I’m actively working towards finding a space of my own to hold devotionals and fitness training sessions and boot camps for women of faith!

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with Christ has truly changed me and opened my eyes to who I really am! It allows me to walk in authority fearlessly and effectively! Things I used to be doubtful of im not anymore. Things i used to be afraid of im no longer fearful of.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I grew up feeling not heard, overlooked by relatives especially my siblings. Nobody believed in me and it hurt. I went into this phase that I had to please my siblings and by doing so for many years I lost myself. Here I was the baby of 7 and I was carrying weight that wasn’t mine! One day I had enough and put my foot down and it wasn’t accepted. I was the outcast even more and now for a whole different reason. But, I learned how to walk alone. I learned how to use my voice. This also was the start to me finding my true passion in health and fitness!

I’d use the weight room at school and I realized it was a way to de stress and forget about everything else. The rest was pretty much history! That’s how my healing journey began. I wanted to be a trainer, I AM! I wanted to help people, I DO! I wanted to work in a gym, I DO!! Pretty much everything nobody believed i would or could do I DID!! I owe it all to God!

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Nowadays people blame any and everything on genetics. If they’re lazy they’ll say it runs in their family. If they are overweight due to excessive eating they blame that on genetics as well. In reality, it’s themselves! They lack integrity and refuse to take accountability for their own actions! If more people took accountability, their outlook on life would be so much better. Things are repeating because you haven’t put in the work to change the cycle so it will continue until you do!

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they talk about my faith. How God has delivered me from things and lit a fire in me that pushed me out of my comfort zone to do just what I asked of him! That i absolutely loved what I did! That id go and did go above and beyond to make sure my clients and those around me were taken care of.

I wasn’t selfish. I’ve given away things I could’ve charged for but instead I’ve taught many how to do things. I hope they remember how much I genuinely loved and valued each and every one I came across!
