Check Out Kennedy Cole’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Cole.

Hi Kennedy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Tattooers are generally built from the fringes of society. Full of skateboarders, punk rockers, misfits, land pirates, or even just that weird art kid. I am one and all of these.
I did my first tattoo at 15 and continued to play around with it up thru college. And I mean play because it was a humbling experience and took years to break bad habits and relearn once I finally took it serious and became a proper apprentice. That was 14 years ago now and in that time I have slayed next to countless mentors, friends, coworkers and legends, that have truly made me the tattooer I am today. You can find me at Working Class Tattoo. It’s a rad classic street shop in Westport. Open 7 days a week walk-ins always welcome. If we aren’t tattooing we are painting and joking around.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I mean without all the bumps, breaks, and bruises I wouldn’t be as strong of an artist or person that I am today.
Sometimes even just giving a tattoo can be a struggle. Doing tattoos may look easy but it should be respected. Trying to imbed ink pigments between skin layers without damaging any layers sounds crazy enough but then there’s another human with feelings, distracts, and sometimes a trauma dump attached to it. That being said I will always make it a good experience and deliver my best tattoo that will last a lifetime.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a guided and gutted by the phase “you’re only as good as you’re last tattoo.” As a street shop walk-in artist, I am here for all your needs.
I’m great at listening and creating ideas into reality. From bright and bold traditional, names and words, single needle flowers, dark surrealistic skulls, or your mom’s hand writing.
Im a jack of all trades but my speciality would have to be what we call morphs, where we take multiple ideas, (like a rose and panther head) and mash them together in a coherent way while still following the rules of a traditional tattoo.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I am a frequent book buyer and my book list is a mile long thats always growing. Full of Tattoo flash, philosophical, ancient history, to sci-fi novels. Currently reading “The Righteous Mind,” by Jonathan Haidt and would recommend to everyone trying to understand anyone.
