Today we’d like to introduce you to Baraa Razick.
Hi Baraa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for photography and videoagraphy started at a very young age. I remember my dad came home one day with a huge video camera sitting on his shoulder. He took that thing with him wherever he felt memories were to be made and documented. I know I inherited that love for capturing memories from him. There is just something magical about capturing moments in time that will be there forever to look back at. I naturally had an eye for these moments and loved the feeling of a camera in my hand. But what I loved the most about it is what I can do with it. I knew I had to capture what I see and share it with others.
My siblings and I would pull out the boxes of photos my mom hide beneath her bed and go down memory lane in disbelief that our mother, was the same woman we saw in all those photos from all those years ago. From photos of her wearing a white so young and beautiful, to pictures of her with us on her hip in our old home. It made us appreciate the beautiful memories we made together and the simple life our parents provided for us.
These memories are all what made me appreciate and notice the little things in life. Things, that can easily be missed. Mix that with my love for weddings, meeting new people and capturing memories, that is how I turned my passion into a career I love. That is how LuxuryLens KC was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in life comes easy. But when done with passion, love and patience nothing can get in the way of what you set your mind and heart to. The moment I decided this is what I want to do in life, I dedicated all my time to learn to be the best I can be at my job and provide the best I can to whoever seeks our services at Luxury Lens KC. This isn’t just a career. This isn’t simply just a job. This is a constant opportunity for me to make life long friends all while capturing their life long memories for them. Whatever event, occasion, or opportunity I get to pick up my camera for, I pour my heart into it. One struggle I find myself always facing is how do I manage to stick to the contract and not stay up till sunrise editing and over delivering photos for my clients.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My love for details and art can be seen many times through out my life. I am also a professional henna artist. I grew up doing henna and have a love for details and anything beautiful. Luckily for me, with henna comes a lot of weddings and brides. Yay! So I always loved that through my henna, I had the privilege to be a part of a lot of peoples new beginnings. Special moments were shared with me and it was always a joy to be a part of someone’s special day just by simply sharing my talent and love for henna. So you can imagine my excitement when I decided it was time to start my photography and videography business LuxuryLens KC. What better opportunity for me to share my talent with others! Only this time my gift won’t fade like the henna would. They will be moments and memories captured for people to look at share with others for generations to come.
Meanwhile, I was always the friend and family member who had a camera on her wherever I went. If it wasn’t with me, everyone knew I was the person they needed to pass their iPhone to for a great photo. I captured all my family/friend’s wedding days and took so many graduation portraits to count.
What sets me apart is I enjoy editing all my work myself. Being a Muslim woman, I know how important it is for some to want to keep their pictures private and safe. That is a big deal for me. So honoring my clients wishes and gaining their trust all while providing excellent quality work is what I do.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family and friends are great supporters and they really encouraged me to go ahead and launch LuxuryLens KC. But my biggest supporter of all would have to be my husband. That man is my right hand in everything. LuxuryLens Kc would not be the as successful as it is without him. He supports and runs this business in every possible way he can. From setting up and getting ready for a wedding to getting us to where we need to be on time. He does it all.
