Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharrita Ballew.
Hi Sharrita, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I became a fitness entrepreneur in 2019. About 3 years after starting my fitness journey. I’ve always been a person of encouragement, speaking like and wanting nothing but the best for those around me and pushing for them to see it in themselves. The fitness industry gave me that outlet. I started my business with Saturday morning bootcamps, online training and then personal training. Fast forward to Dec 2024, I launched Step It UP Hip Hop Step Aerobics.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge I’d say was overcoming self doubt. The road itself has been smooth. I look at the challenges I’ve faced as God’s preparation for everything to come. The beginning of anything is usually the hardest but if you believe in your call, shift your mindset and choose to persevere, you can learn a lot from struggles that will benefit you in the long run.

I am a certified group fitness instructor specializing in step aerobics. I’ve been sharing my fitness journey since 2017 and I’d like to say I’m know for transparency and inspiration. Most of all, I’m known as the founder and lead instructor of Step It UP! I’m most proud of the community of people who show up and understand the purpose behind our movement. To create a safe atmosphere for those who crave a healthier lifestyle through movement without the feeling of being in a gym. What sets me apart is my resilience, the ability to fail but keep going, my faith in God who gives me the wisdom and strength to see things through and believe that nothing is impossible.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is being able to positively impact lives while doing what you love.
