Today we’d like to introduce you to Fonteshia Rhodes.
Hi Fonteshia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for the beauty industry/ makeup grew back in 2015 when I was graduating high school . The trend of an “beat face” became popular, around that time . I always saw the girlies getting their makeup done at MAC but I wanted to learn for myself . YouTube became my best friend, I started to practice everyday on myself . Fast forward to 2017 , my best friend encouraged me to start practicing on other people. So I stepped out on faith & did so .
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road … let me tell ya! This makes my second time rebranding my business . The first time around, I went in head first , quit my 9 to 5 , started doing makeup in someone’s establishment , paying booth rent I absolutely couldn’t afford . But I didn’t let that stop me . I moved my business to my home & started taking clients that way . After 1 year of mismanaging money & not understanding what it really takes to run a business I became burnt out & decided to take a break . God led me in a totally different direction from makeup . I enrolled in school & became a licensed Massage Therapist . But even though that was the path I was on , I always felt makeup was my passion & I didn’t want to just let it go . 2025 I rebranded my business again , but only this time I am operating through God’s will for my business, not my own .

So I am self taught makeup artist . I started out as your all around makeup artist, doing every kind of look you can think of . But as I’ve grown in my craft , I realized that my niche is more of soft, natural, sultry makeup looks . I like to believe that my work is unique & has its own style . I know the girlies love a BEAT DOWN FACE , but I love to keep my clients natural with just the right pop . This year I have been working with a lot of Brides! & think that will be one of my main services I offer . Stay tuned to what’s to come 😉
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
