Story & Lesson Highlights with Gayle Price

We recently had the chance to connect with Gayle Price and have shared our conversation below.

Gayle, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When have you felt most loved—and did you believe you deserved it?
Earlier this year, I broke and dislocated my ankle, which rendered me unable to perform even the most basic daily tasks. As someone who prides themselves on being self-sufficient, this sudden shift was incredibly challenging.

However, during this tough time, I felt an immense amount of love and support from my husband, Vincent. He never hesitated to step in and assist me with everything I needed. His unwavering support and dedication were truly heartwarming and made a significant difference in my recovery journey.

While this injury was undoubtedly life-changing, it also brought us closer together. I am incredibly grateful for his help and the strengthened bond that emerged from this challenging experience.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Gayle Price, and I have the pleasure of being the lead singer and manager of the Pure Sweetness Entertainment Band. We are a vibrant and enthusiastic local cover band dedicated to delivering stellar performances at various functions, events, weddings, anniversary parties, and more. Our band is known for our high-energy shows and our ability to cover a wide range of music genres, ensuring that every audience has an unforgettable experience. We take great pride in our work and are passionate about making every event a memorable one.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My mother Priscilla Bowman, has been the greatest influence in shaping my work ethic, my passion for the industry, and my love for giving a truly memorable performance. I can’t help but recall the countless times I watched and listened to her perform, utterly captivated by her incredible stage presence and her powerful, soulful voice.

Her ability to connect with her audience and leave them in awe was nothing short of magical. It was through observing her dedication and joy in every show that I found my own inspiration to follow in her footsteps. She has undoubtedly been my greatest teacher and motivator, and I am forever grateful for the lessons she imparted and the inspiration she provided.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely! Juggling multiple roles in the local music industry, promotions, bookings, managing and everything in between, all while holding down a full-time job, has definitely been challenging. There were times when I felt ready to throw in the towel. However, this journey has been incredibly educational and rewarding.

I’ve gained invaluable insights into the local music scene and area establishments. This knowledge has been eye-opening and has significantly contributed to our band’s growth. The challenges have ultimately made us stronger and more resilient.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
What you see is what you get with me—always! I truly believe in being real and authentic, both on and off the stage. It’s important to me that I present my true self in all aspects of my life, and that it resonates and allows you to let your hair down during one of our performances.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
It’s really important to me that people know that I was real and authentic in everything I did. My compassion for others has always been a guiding principle in my life.

Furthermore, my belief in God has been at the core of who I am, and I hold the conviction that everything truly belongs to Him. What matters most to me is that people remember me as someone who was a lover of God and a lover of everyone I encountered. I have always strived to see the good in people and treat everyone I met with kindness and respect, never meeting a stranger.
