Meet John Mayes and Keeynan Williams of U Toss We Haul

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Mayes and Keeynan Williams.

Hi John and Keeynan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
U Toss We Haul started with a work relationship that turned into a brotherhood. John had been with the company for over a decade when Keeynan joined. After recognizing Keeynan’s potential, John gave him a shot in the shipping department — and he quickly became a standout.

Bonded by a shared love for the Green Bay Packers and friendly Madden rivalries, the two built a strong friendship. Over time, they grew frustrated with how things were run at their job and often dreamed about how they’d do it better — with stronger leadership, better training, and clear communication.

One day, Keeynan said, “Let’s start a junk removal company.” John thought about it, said yes, and U Toss We Haul was born — built on hard work, mutual respect, and a shared vision for something greater.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all — but every bump has built us.

When we started U Toss We Haul, we had no equipment, no loans, and no roadmap. We paid dues out of our own pockets, rented trucks and trailers, and borrowed equipment wherever we could — even using John’s dad’s trailer at one point. Once, instead of receiving payment, a client gave us an old trailer they didn’t use. That became one of our first real tools.

We applied for grants and got denied. Our truck was broken into, and we faced jobs most people would walk away from — roach-infested homes, heavy and dirty cleanouts — but we did them anyway because we knew we had something to prove.

There were countless lessons we had to learn the hard way: where to dump, what we could legally haul, how to schedule jobs around dump hours, and how to price things properly. We didn’t know much about networking either — but we stayed consistent, showed up, and grew that too.

Through it all, the one thing that never changed was our commitment. No matter what happened, we didn’t quit.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about U Toss We Haul?
U Toss We Haul is a junk removal and property cleanout company serving both residential and commercial clients. We specialize in junk hauling, estate cleanouts, light demolition, and property cleanups — but what we’re really known for is our reliability, respect for our clients, and a commitment to doing the job right.

What sets us apart is our story and our service. We didn’t start with funding or equipment — we built this business piece by piece through hard work, faith, and consistency. Our reputation has been earned by taking on jobs others wouldn’t, showing up on time, and treating every client like family.

We’re most proud of our brand’s heart. It’s not just about hauling junk — it’s about helping people clear out physical clutter while building something that lasts. We’ve been recognized by local organizations like the Prospect Business Association, and we’re proud to give back through events like our annual Back-to-School Barber-Q and partnerships with nonprofits such as Flourish Bank and Re.Use.Full.

At the end of the day, U Toss We Haul is more than a service — it’s a symbol of what’s possible when you stay committed, stay humble, and keep showing up.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
We just want readers to know this: U Toss We Haul isn’t just about hauling junk — it’s about building something with purpose. We came from humble beginnings, and we’re still building. Every job we take is a step toward generational wealth, community impact, and creating opportunities for others like us. We’re proof that you don’t need a perfect start — you just need to start.
