Check Out Tia Thomas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Thomas.

Hi Tia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Greetings,

I am Tia Thomas, creatively known as Fashicon Artistry, and I am delighted to share a glimpse into my artistic fashionable journey with you. Hailing proudly from Kansas City, creativity and fashion has been my faithful companion since childhood, offering solace and adventure in equal measure. My exploration of art began as a form of emotional therapy, where the boundless realm of imagination translated into tangible creations. Fashion was my outlet of self-expression without words in motion.

Drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of life that surrounds me—its landscapes, emotions, and the diverse experiences I’ve encountered—I endeavor to craft images that not only stir emotions but also empower viewers. Each stroke of my brush or swirl of color is an invitation to reflect, offering a kaleidoscope of hues that resonate with the human spirit. I’ve always been into making anything mediocre into iconic extravagant statements from clothes to canvas. Intertwining color schemes and patterns played into that iconic image I have created for myself.

Embracing a mixed-media approach, I revel in experimenting with various acrylic colors and materials. Like the legendary Bob Ross, I believe in the beauty of serendipity, finding joy and liberation in the unexpected twists and turns of the creative process. His philosophy of embracing imperfections and discovering flow amidst the chaos deeply influences my work, infusing it with a sense of freedom and spontaneity.

Alongside my personal artistic endeavors, I have been privileged to mentor and collaborate with youths aged 5 to 18, nurturing their creativity and fostering empowerment through painting. Through collaborations with other organizations allows the healing of creativity to be embraced through different expressions.

Love, Peace & Creativity,
Tia Thomas

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my entire journey I’ve alchemize my pain into reward, using the challenges of life to create the vision I desire to see. Being a full-time multidisciplinary artist has been a journey full of ups and down. One of my main challenges I struggled with throughout my entire journey is overthinking the ideas you bring to life.
Being creative means thinking beyond the norm—it’s about seeing opportunity where others see limits. It takes courage to turn imagination into income, and being an artist often means becoming a risk taker, trusting your instincts, and embracing innovation to carve your own path. Creativity isn’t just a talent—it’s a mindset that fuels resilience, reinvention, and bold moves.
In a world where in some cases resources can be limited, I’ve learned to turn what I have into what I need—using creativity not just as a form of expression, but as a means of generating income and building opportunity. Living beyond the ‘struggling artist’ stigma means embracing resilience, navigating self-doubt, and pushing through rejection with purpose. It’s about redefining success on my own terms and proving that artistry and entrepreneurship can thrive together, even in the most challenging environments.
