Community Highlights: Meet Tyler of Evolution Athletics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler.

Hi Tyler, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My coaching career began back in 2006 while I was in school to become a trainer. This is when I began working with anyone that was looking to improve their fitness goals, many times it was for free. In 2007 I became a certified personal trainer and started training clients fulltime. Five years in to training several executive clients and young athletes, I became a co-owner of a personal training studio that I helped build to over 10+ trainers and 200+ clients. The first 10 years of my career I worked as hard as I could and learned as much as possible at becoming a successful trainer and business owner. In 2017 I parted ways with the personal training studio and opened up a sport performance facility called Evolution Athletics. We are going on over 8 years of business and train over 100+ athletes at any given time. We specialize in athletic development for youth, middle school, high school, college, and professional athletes as well as training the Lawrence Police Department as well as their police recruit classes. In addition to this, I have been named the Best Of Lawrence personal trainer twice and Evolution Athletics ranks in the top 3 training facilities in town. I am extremely proud of the trainer and business owner I have become over the nearly 20 years in the fitness industry. I can’t wait to see what the future holds and how many lives I can help impact.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The last 19 years have been far from perfect in this line of work. From starting a new business with only a handful of athletes, having competitors try to steal our athletes, and even having a pandemic shut down our business for a couple months, we have seen our fair share of challenges. Even though there have been many obstacles along the way, I truly believe these obstacles help form us into the people we are today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Evolution Athletics is a sport performance facility located in Lawrence, Kansas. We have been working with local youth, middle school, high school, college and professional athletes as well as local law enforcement for over 18 years. We specialize in speed, agility, power, strength, and conditioning training.

All athletes that come through our facility go through a movement assessment and performance testing before we start training. This pre training evaluation helps us assess where an athlete should start with their training. From there a program is built off the athletes goals and results of their evaluation.

We believe that success takes time. Our movement first training approach helps athletes set the foundation they need to be the ultimate competitor.

With over 300+ athletes that have gone and played at the next level, our proven training system and team of coaches are ready to help any athlete achieve their athletic goals.

What are your plans for the future?
Future plans are to continue to grow the business in different directions. Our goals is to help as many athletes as we can to have success in their sports, build confidence in themselves, and learn to live a happy and healthy life. Our online training program has become a popular app for athletes around the state to receive quality training at an affordable price without having to train with us in person. We also plan to expand our services to more sport and club teams around the area soon.

Pricing:

  • Pricing ranges from $99-$199 per month depending on how often an athlete trains with us.
