Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Mostaffa.
Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to be a “people helper.” My definition of that has evolved over the years I’ve been doing this work, but the constant experience is that I am always honored to be invited in on people’s most personal journey. I don’t know that I ever envisioned it would turn into what it is today – a practice of many “people helpers.” It means a lot to me, and the rest of the practice, to support people work towards change.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can’t ignore the privileges provided to me that have helped smooth out a lot of the potential struggles. Still, there are a lot of tricky parts to people work. The biggest struggles I’ve encountered have been systems. I have worked in different agencies and non-profits that are paralleling just as much survival and overwhelm as the communities they serve. At the same time, I was most shaped as a therapist by the experiences and training I was able to receive from these agencies. I know navigating the mental health realm can be confusing, frustrating, and disparaging for some people, and I wish that were different. I wish folks had less struggles or barriers to receiving mental health services. That is what we hope for all client’s connecting with Wild Hope – that we’ll make the process as easy as possible either getting you connected with one of our therapists on staff or giving you direction for what you’re seeking – we want to help make that burden feel lighter for people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Wild Hope, we believe therapy should feel like coming home to yourself. Our mission is to create a safe, welcoming space where you feel seen, heard, and supported – just as you are. Whether you’re navigating life’s challenges or seeking deeper self-understanding, we’re here to walk alongside you with compassion, expertise, and care. This is more than therapy – it’s the place where healing begins and growth feels possible.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I often discuss with clients that “life hacks” aren’t really a thing – not in the grand sense that someone else can tell us what worked for them and it should mean that it works for us too. So my banner statement is go have fun exploring what your unique, awesome, authentic life hacks are to help you live your best life! For me, I like books, podcasts, TV, movies, and music. If I’m listening to a podcast it’s generally to provide some levity or make me laugh (which is my favorite form of self-care). If I’m listening to music it’s usually to help my body move. My Libby app is most used on my phone. Probably closely followed by Sudoku. I consume a lot of clinical/therapeutic books that might help me be a better therapist or might be a meaningful recommendation for a client. And I often and frequently find myself recommending authors like Glennon Doyle, Brene Brown, Kristen Neff, Emily Nagoski, Melody Beattie, and Aubrey Gordon.
