Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Sparks.

Nichole Sparks

Hi Nichole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my journey in nursing school. I was working on getting my RN degree during 2014 this was during the start of the YouTube craze and Youtube influencers. During my brain breaks while working on my degree I would watch YouTube makeup tutorials. It wasn’t long before I was purchasing eyeshadow palettes and blending out fun eyeshadow looks, trying to recreate the looks from my favorite influencers. I blinked and had landed myself in an interview at Sephora timid of my skills and auditioning to carry a brush belt to be a makeup artist for them. I landed my first back yard wedding in November of 2016, by spring of 2017 I was advertising myself as a newer bridal MUA in the KC area. For a few years I worked in the medical field while filling my weekends and evening with Sephora, trial runs, Kansas City Fashion week, weddings and any other makeup appointment I could get on my books. Fast forward to 2020; I had my first son, it was a crazy world in the medical field. I found some courage (and support from my boyfriend, now husband) and decided to make the leap to making MakeupUndefined a full time source of income for me. I quickly added on spray tan services so I had more I could offer. In 2023 I was nominated for Best of Makeup and Best of Spray tans for The Pitch KC. Although those nominations didn’t place me in the top it did light a fire within and provide me with a bit of a confidence boost that I needed to keep going. I then enrolled myself in school for my Esthetician License, I granted top of my class there, first to finish my hours and first to license post graduation. Now my services to offer list have expanded immensely! From facials, derma plane, chemical peels, lash lifts, brow lamination, waxing, sprays and makeup I have made myself a one stop shop for all things bridal and beauty. 2024 landed me runner up within my categories with The Pitch, I was also nominated by my peers for the Wed KC Best of Makeup 2025. This journey has been incredible! I have met some of then most amazing people, from all over the world. The Kansas City wedding community is so talented, truly it’s an honor to be apart of it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall it has been a smooth road, tackling one addition to my business at a time. For the first 6 years of business is was a slow progression but since committing to this being my full time business I would say I have grown leaps and bounds. The struggle came from my own internal mindset. I struggled with imposter syndrome, sometimes feeling like I wasn’t good enough, talented enough, or belong in the beauty industry. I had some minor push back from family that leaving nursing was a foolish decision. It was hard to quiet those doubts, even when clients where thrilled with my work. Over time I have grown to realize that every artist has their own unique style and value to bring to the table. By focusing on my growth, listening to feedback, and celebrating milestones- like being apart of 61 weddings in 2024 or earning multiple industry recognitions- I’ve grown more confident in my purpose. 2024 was record breaking for me and I a so excited for what 2025 has in store.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
As an Esthetician and Makeup artist, my greatest joy comes from helping clients feel confident and radiant in their own skin. Whether its enhancing natural beauty through makeup or providing skincare services that nurture self0care, I love being part of someone’s journey to looking and feeling their best. Its incredibly rewarding to know that my work can make such a positive impact, whether its for a bride on her wedding day, a client enjoying a relaxing facial, or anyone discovering their unique beauty. What sets Makeupundefined apart is my dedication to combining expertise with a personal touch. As a licensed esthetician with a nursing background, I am deeply knowledgeable about skincare and beauty trends, which allows me to create treatments that not only meet but exceed expectations.
No matter what service you are receiving from me, each service is rooted in listening to what my client truly needs and delivering results that can be both seen and felt. I believe beauty is about confidence, and weather someone is preparing for their wedding day, maintaining healthy skin, or simply treating themselves, my goal is to make them feel celebrated and cared for.
With a commitment to excellence, detail, and a welcoming environment, MakeupUndefined by Nichole offers more than just services- it offers an experience that uplifts and empowers.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d just like to share how grateful I am to be apart of an industry that allows me to connect with people in such meaningful ways. Whether it’s through makeup artistry or esthetic services, I am passionate about helping others feel confident and celebrated in their own skin.

I also want to encourage readers to prioritize self-care, wether that’s treating themselves to a facial, embracing a bold lip for the first time, or simply taking time to feel good about themselves. Beauty is about so much more than appearances- its about how you feel, and I’m honored too play a role in that journey.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has trusted me with their beauty needs, from brides on their big day to clients seeking a moment of relaxation. You’ve made my journey so rewarding, and I am excited to continue growing and bringing even more to the table for the people I serve.
