Daily Inspiration: Meet Kourtney Leibman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kourtney Leibman.

Hi Kourtney, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been the one in my family who documented special occasions, capturing the big and little moments, alike. When my oldest son was born, I got my first DSLR camera and – like so many new parents – started taking a gazillion pictures of him. At that point, photography became more than just a hobby; it became a way for me to tell stories and preserve memories. I love showing people the way I see them – beautiful, real, and full of life. That connection is what drew me to photography and continues to inspire my work every day.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being a photographer in Kansas City – a place filled to the brim with talented, wonderful photographers – means continuously trying to learn and grow in order to set myself apart.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While I photograph most genres, my favorite kind of photoshoot is the one where my client is using the session to express themselves. Whether it’s an emotion, art form, or self love. I call these sessions “Express Yourself” sessions and they can include things like glamour, cosplay, drag, and even boudoir. These are the sessions about sharing who you are and what you love. I love this kind of work because it involves really getting to know and connect with my client, which I think sets me apart.

What’s next?
Networking! I’ve gotten to know a lot of wonderful, creative people in the area and I want to continue that journey!
