Check Out Marco Sepulveda’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Sepulveda.

Hi Marco, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Marco Sepulveda, a Chilean national. I started playing music at a young age, motivated by my father and some relatives who were self-taught musicians. My desire to be a musician was fueled in high school, where I met classmates with great musical talents, who helped me become deeply involved in this beautiful craft. I took percussion classes and participated in many musical projects of different styles in my home country. After graduating from high school, I began studying sound engineering and also attended talent schools subsidized by the Chilean government. I participated mainly in tropical-style musicals, where I learned a lot and experienced on a broader scale what it meant to be a musician at its finest. Along with music, I studied aeronautical mechanics. After a long career in that field, I was presented with the opportunity to come to the United States, where I currently formed a Latin band called Golpe Latino in the state of Florida, in the city of Pensacola. We’ve been with the band for two years now and have had a wonderful reception, mainly from Latin people as well as Americans.
We’re currently working on an original project of songs I’ve composed, which will soon be available to everyone.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been an easy road, because in my country it’s very difficult to dedicate oneself 100% to music, and the profession of being a musician or artist is often undervalued, and the pay is often subpar, making it difficult to make a living from it. You have to have another career option. Despite that, I continue searching and working with great enthusiasm. Now in the US, doors have opened for us, and thank God, we’re gaining more recognition every day, especially in the state of Florida.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an Aircraft Mechanic Technology Engineer. Like the other members of my band, I’ve been working on this for almost four years, alongside music.
I’m somewhat known to a few people, due to the fact I’ve had the opportunity to front my band, and I’ve also been able to work musically with the great Tito Puente Jr. on a couple of occasions. This has perhaps made me stand out from the crowd, and I’m proud to be working on my own musical project and making music of my own making.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my family, their well-being and happiness, as they are the cornerstone of my life, both personally and professionally. I feel they are the only ones who provide unconditional support, and what I do is essential for my professional development as a musician or in any other field. I always strive to improve myself as a person, which is the most important thing so that I can one day leave a mark or legacy for those below me.
