Meet Jenn Reeves of Cornerstone Turf Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Reeves.

Hi Jenn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was a stay-at-home mom who loved the creativity of home renovations and the satisfaction of a good before-and-after transformation. After taking on the renovation of our own 1980s farmhouse—almost entirely on my own—I found myself wondering what was next. One thing I knew for sure was that sitting behind a desk wasn’t it.

That’s when I was introduced to an opportunity with a nationwide artificial turf installation company. I had zero experience with turf at the time, but I quickly realized I loved everything about it—communicating with customers, seeing the immediate transformation of their spaces, and knowing I was helping families get more enjoyment out of their homes.

After about a year, I began to imagine a business that reflected more of my values—one with a hands-on approach, high-quality materials, and deeper customer care. I had brought a friend into the company with me a few months earlier, and together we launched an artificial turf business of our own.

We saw early success and learned a lot along the way. Over time, we recognized that we each had different goals and directions for the business. After thoughtful conversations, we decided to part ways professionally so we could each pursue our own vision.

That next chapter became Cornerstone Turf Company.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If someone says they started a business without any struggles, I’d be hard-pressed to believe them! There were definitely bumps in the road on my artificial turf journey—challenges that ultimately led to the creation of Cornerstone Turf.

That said, I’m incredibly grateful for the road God led me down. Every struggle taught me something valuable and prepared me for this next chapter. Starting Cornerstone came with its own set of hurdles, but because I had already gone through the process once, I was able to move forward with more confidence, clarity, and purpose.

One of the biggest challenges early on was finding the right products and suppliers that matched the high standards I set for our installs. Another was building a team that truly understood the Cornerstone brand—people who value quality, care, and craftsmanship as much as I do.

I’m proud to say I’ve found that team. Our installation crew is top-notch, and I genuinely couldn’t do what I do without them. Their attention to detail, professionalism, and work ethic are a huge part of what makes our projects so successful. With their support, I’m able to focus on designing thoughtful spaces, connecting with clients, and making sure every project lives up to the Cornerstone name.

It hasn’t been easy—but it’s been worth every step.

At the heart of Cornerstone Turf Company is my deep belief that business should be about more than just the bottom line. That’s why a portion of every project we complete goes toward Convoy of Hope and Project Rescue. It’s bigger than turf — I want our work to matter, both to the families we serve and the causes we support.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Artificial turf has come a long way. The days of toxic recycled rubber infill and stiff, indoor-outdoor carpet are behind us. Over the past decade, turf technology has improved dramatically—with realistic textures, safer materials, better drainage, and eco-friendly options. It’s exciting to think about what the next 5 to 10 years will bring.

While turf has been used for years in sports fields, its popularity for residential and commercial use is growing rapidly. Here in Kansas City, we’re still in the early stages compared to southern states and coastal areas where turf is more common. However, as water restrictions start to take hold in the Midwest, I believe artificial turf will experience rapid growth locally.

At Cornerstone Turf, we’re already ahead of the curve by offering products that are antimicrobial, UV-resistant, and made with recycled materials—features that I expect will become standard in the near future. What excites me most is how achievable it is for homeowners to customize their own putting greens or turf spaces, turning previously unused areas into beautiful, low-maintenance outdoor extensions of their homes that families can enjoy year-round.

Nationwide, artificial turf is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of about 5% over the next five years. I’m confident Kansas City will match or even surpass that growth as more people discover the many benefits of artificial turf—like its low maintenance, year-round appeal, versatility, and especially its water-saving advantages. These benefits make it an increasingly attractive choice for homeowners and businesses alike.
