Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Harvey.
Hi Ebony, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My business actually started as a side hustle. I’ve been sewing for more than half my life, working as a seamstress, but things didn’t officially kick off until around 2014. That year, I was doing my first fashion show and needed a name to enter under. That’s when I came up with Efinite Squared.
My first collection featured bold prints with classic lines, which really shaped the identity of the brand. The show focused on African prints vibrant, rich, and full of personality…and that’s where the boldness in my brand was born. From the beginning, Efinite Squared has always been about self expression through fashion and accessories.
I started out making garments of all kinds; formal wear, activewear, everyday pieces, you name it. But after having my second child, I didn’t have as much flexibility to sit and sew like I used to. I still needed a creative outlet, though. I had already been wearing waistbeads for a few years before she was born, and after her birth. I found myself drawn back to them not just as adornment, but as a form of creative and spiritual expression.
I began making waistbeads for myself, and then for friends. This was also during COVID, so being home allowed me to really pour into this craft. I was at home making masks and waistbeads. That’s really where this next phase of the business emerged. A lot of people knew me for fashion and sewing, but in 2020, waistbeads became the new focus.
After about a year of making them, a friend invited me to share her table at a few local pop-ups. I had just a small corner for my waistbeads, but the response was so good that I eventually had to get my own table. That turned into doing my own pop-ups consistently over the past few years. I launched a website about a year ago, so now I’ve been able to expand online too.
At the heart of it all whether it’s clothing or waistbeads, my work has always been about energy. I want people to feel like their best, most authentic selves when they wear something from Efinite Squared. Every piece is made with intention and meaning. Mindful, intentional creations that help people elevate.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Honestly, the biggest obstacle I’ve faced has been myself. Staying consistent and trying to balance running a business with work and family life. That juggle is real and it’s been one of my biggest challenges.
Aside from that, marketing has definitely been tough for me. Getting my business out there, finding my tribe, and building visibility has been a challenge. I connect with people so naturally in person especially at pop-ups. Those face-to-face moments come easy, and sometimes they turn into long-lasting connections. But online? That’s where I struggle.
I’m a super introvert and also a Cancer, so I’m real shelly by nature. But doing pop-ups has pushed me out of my shell in a good way. It’s helped with my anxiety and helped me open up more. Still, learning how to translate that same connection I have in-person to social media has been one of my biggest hurdles.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Jane of all trades and a master of a few. Efinite Squared is more than just a brand; it’s a creative space where everything is designed to help people realign, recharge, and reconnect with themselves.
I’ve been sewing for most of my life. As a master seamstress, I create garments that feel as good as they look. The inside matters just as much as the outside because when you wear something I’ve made, I want you to feel grounded, confident, and fully yourself.
With waistbeads, I specialize in energy work through color therapy and healing gemstones. Waistbeads may look simple, like just beads and string but there’s deep intention behind each strand. They can help people connect to themselves on a deeper level, even spark breakthroughs in unexpected areas of life. It’s more than adornment, it’s energetic alignment.
I’m also a certified crystal practitioner. I offer crystal healing and energy work, using tools and techniques that support emotional, spiritual, and energetic balance.
At the end of the day, whether it’s clothing, waistbeads, or crystals I help people feel more in tune with who they really are. That’s the heart of everything I do.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
In regards to networking, Pop-up events have really helped me in a more organic and authentic way. When you do a lot of pop-ups, you naturally end up meeting other business owners and over time, you start seeing familiar faces and building real connections.
It’s not just about meeting people, though. Through those vendor relationships you learn a lot, like which events are worth attending, which ones align with your brand, and even tips on how to show up better. It becomes a community.
Networking face to face, vendor to vendor has opened the door for collaborations and helped me grow both personally and professionally. It feels natural and it’s been one of the most valuable parts of my journey.
