Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Todd.
Hi Robin, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I spent the first 16 years of my life in Missouri. As a child of divorce, I’ve always considered myself fortunate—I had not only two loving parents, but also two additional wonderful stepparents who played a big role in shaping who I would become. At 16, I moved to Colorado, where I met my high school sweetheart—now my husband. We finished high school together, went on to college, built a life in Denver, and started our family.
I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology along with a teaching certification and spent six years teaching elementary school. Eventually, I paused my career to focus on raising our three children. After living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a time, we moved back to Missouri to be closer to family. It’s funny—when you’re young, moving away feels like an adventure. But once you have children of your own, the value of being near family becomes crystal clear.
Back in Missouri, I returned to teaching part-time and found joy in striking a balance between my career and family life. In 2011, I decided to pursue my master’s degree in psychology. That decision would prove to be life-changing. During my studies, I was introduced to mindfulness by one of my professors, Dr. Maria Hunt. She had spent over seven years developing a curriculum that combined Eastern wisdom, neuroscience, and positive psychology in a practical, accessible way.
That introduction came at a pivotal time: in 2012, I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Mindfulness, meditation, prayer, and God’s grace became lifelines. They didn’t just help me survive—they helped me transform. After I graduated, I felt a clear calling to create something that could help others the way this work had helped me. That’s when I founded Mindful Momentum.
Since then, I’ve had the honor of working with thousands of people across different industries, age groups, and communities. What started as one curriculum has grown into something much larger. Today, with the support of like-minded partners, we offer a certification program, mindfulness programs for children and teens, leadership training, mindful eating and movement practices, a 1-minute Simply Mindful card deck, and our newest initiative—a mindfulness-based peer support program tailored for the construction industry. We hope to expand that program into other sectors soon.
Owning my own business has stretched and challenged me in ways I never expected. But staying rooted in my mission, surrounding myself with people who share my vision, and continually striving to live mindfully have been the keys to our growth. I always say—I’m not different from anyone else. I’m a work in progress. But I try to live authentically and model what I teach. It’s a joy and an honor to walk alongside others on their journey of personal growth.
In today’s fast-paced world, my hope is that our work helps people slow down and savor the present moment—because those moments are not guaranteed. Life is short. And if my story can help others discover what truly matters before they face a crisis of their own, then that’s a gift I’m grateful to give.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have certainly been plenty of struggles along the way—both internal and external. I’ve wrestled with fear, self-doubt, and uncertainty. I’ve navigated serious health challenges, and like so many parents, I’ve faced the emotional ups and downs that come with raising a family and supporting loved ones through their own struggles.
What I’ve learned through it all is the power of mindset and perspective. I often say that life is a curvy road. If we expect those curves—along with the roadblocks, detours, and bumps—we can begin to see them not as signs that we’re off track, but as invitations to grow. These are the moments where grit, perseverance, and resilience are born. When we reflect on our challenges instead of letting them define us, we’re better able to shape the path we want to walk moving forward.
None of us wants hardship, but it’s part of the human experience. What we do with our hardships is what really matters.
One of the misconceptions I try to address through mindfulness is the idea of toxic positivity—the belief that we should just smile through the pain, stay positive, and pretend everything’s fine. That’s not mindfulness. True mindfulness gives us permission to be with the discomfort. To honor our pain, to give ourselves grace, and to move through life at our own pace. And when we’re ready, it offers us a way forward—a way to move through the hardship without getting stuck in it.
That’s what our curriculum is designed to do. It gives people practical tools to navigate the hard stuff with compassion and awareness—but also to deepen their joy. Even the smallest, simplest moments can become sources of strength and renewal. Those are the moments that help carry us forward.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mindful Momentum, Inc.. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mindful Momentum is a mindfulness-based training organization that offers programs for individuals, organizations, and communities. At our core, we specialize in teaching practical, science-backed skills that help people build awareness, resilience, and a deeper connection to themselves and others.
What sets us apart is the simplicity and accessibility of our approach. We don’t overcomplicate things—we believe in making mindfulness easy to understand and easy to apply. Our curriculum is grounded in neuroscience and positive psychology, and it’s designed to help people not only understand why mindfulness works, but also how to integrate it into the flow of everyday life. We’re not meditation-centric—instead, we teach a variety of tools that go beyond meditation, making mindfulness feel possible and sustainable for everyone, regardless of experience or lifestyle.
One offering I’m especially proud of—and that many people don’t know about—is our 1:1 training. It’s a 9-week online experience that meets once a week for an hour and covers the full Mindful Momentum curriculum. It’s incredibly personal and impactful, helping individuals build a powerful toolbox of skills that can truly change the way they live and relate to the world. It’s one of my favorite things to offer because I get to witness real transformation up close.
We also created The Mindful Momentum Podcast as another way to serve and inspire. The podcast is a space where I interview a wide range of passionate, wise individuals who are doing meaningful work in the world. It’s designed to help listeners—and myself—feel empowered to grow in mindfulness and resilience. You can find it on all major podcast platforms by searching The Mindful Momentum Podcast.
Another powerful way we create impact is through our liveMindful Certification Program. This is how we become a ripple in the world—by equipping others to teach our curriculum and spread the work far beyond what we could do alone. Many of our certified trainers are wellness coordinators, social workers, counselors, life coaches, teachers, and leaders—really, anyone who has the ability and opportunity to share practical, powerful mindfulness and resilience skills with others. Once certified, they become part of the Mindful Momentum community, and we continue to gather regularly for connection, encouragement, and ongoing support. It’s a beautiful, growing network of people committed to helping others thrive.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the number of people and organizations we’ve been able to impact—across industries, age groups, and life circumstances. Each person matters. If someone walks away with even one tool, one insight, or one small shift in perspective that helps them live more fully, then I know we’ve done something meaningful.
At the heart of our work is hope. No matter what someone is experiencing, if they are willing to show up with a bit of time and intention, they can begin to take back control of their life. They can create the life they want and become the person they’re meant to be.
Mindful Momentum is here to remind people that change is possible—and it starts with just one mindful moment at a time.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I absolutely love collaborating with others. Whether it’s co-creating a new program, bringing mindfulness into a new setting, or simply exploring how we can support one another’s missions—we’re always open to meaningful conversations that lead to meaningful impact.
If you’re interested in working together, inviting us to speak or train, or exploring a creative partnership, I’d love to connect. You can reach out through our website at www.mindful-momentum.com or email me directly at [email protected].
