Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina James.
Hi Sabrina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I asked for a job at a local jewelry store when I was 9 years old. It’s been a dream for as long as I can remember. I ended up working at a store for a few years, I learned the business and I launched my own in September 2024. My goal is to give the customer an incredible experience that they love to reminisce on. I specialize in custom engagement rings and wedding stacks. But I also do custom bridal necklaces, reimagine heirloom pieces and anything my clients can dream up.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Allora meant unlearning a lot of what I saw in the traditional fine jewelry world. I saw brands that prioritized profit over people, and I knew I wanted to build something different—something deeply intentional. One of my biggest challenges has been breaking into a legacy-driven industry with a fresh, heartfelt approach. I’m also self-funded, so every decision has to be strategic and scrappy without sacrificing quality. Balancing creative vision with operational demands is a constant juggle, but it’s been worth it to build something that feels personal, beautiful, and lasting. I specialize in custom, fine and high jewelry pieces. And my clients appreciate a tailored experience. Not everyone cares to have this level of service or spend this amount of money to have an unforgettable experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the founder and designer behind Allora Jewelry, a concierge-style fine jewelry brand specializing in custom bridal and everyday pieces. I work closely with clients who value privacy, sentiment, and craftsmanship—translating their stories into timeless jewelry that’s entirely handmade in New York. What sets Allora apart is me. I have a unique ability to observe someone’s style and interpret it into a piece of jewelry that feels personal and effortless. My background in graphic design and luxury wedding photography gives me a strong visual and emotional lens, and I bring that same attention to detail into every part of the process. While I dream of building a team one day, right now it’s just me doing everything—from design to sourcing to client care. I’m proud to be fully transparent about process, sourcing, and materials, and to help clients create meaningful pieces within their vision and budget. Allora is about more than jewelry—it’s about helping people live beautifully.
What are your plans for the future?
Allora’s future is rooted in intentional growth. I want to build a brand that’s both high-touch and high-impact—from expanding our bespoke offerings to developing collections that give back and support causes close to my heart. I also envision a more balanced life personally, where I can focus on creative direction and building a team that shares our values. Long-term, I’d love to open a private appointment-only space—somewhere serene and beautiful that reflects the experience I want our clients to have.
