Community Highlights: Meet Miranda Huffman of Vybe Hot Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Huffman.

Hi Miranda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Vybe Yoga was born from my own journey of self-discovery, which started in 2009 when my husband’s job relocated us to Northern California. The economy had just crashed, we didn’t know a soul, and I had gone from working since I was 15 to suddenly being a stay-at-home mom—with a teenager and a toddler. It was isolating, and over time, a quiet depression began to creep in. I felt like I didn’t even know who I was anymore, away from the peers and identity I had always leaned on.

My husband encouraged me to join a gym, just to get out of the house. That’s where I started building a circle of friends, and one of them invited me to a Bikram yoga class. I still remember thinking I was going to die in that hot room. I hated every second of that first class—but afterward, I sat in my car, soaked and exhausted, and something shifted. On the drive home, the world just looked brighter. I couldn’t explain it, but something inside me felt different—lighter, more awake.

That class started a journey not just of physical strength, but of self-discovery. Through yoga, I began reconnecting with myself. I learned to listen inward, challenge old beliefs, and show up with more purpose in every part of my life. It made me want to be better in all things.

Years later, we moved to Las Vegas, where I deepened my practice and became certified to teach ZFlow Hot Power Yoga in 2015 under Zeeky Vincent of TruFusion. I also trained in other lineages—Ashtanga, Baptiste, yin, trauma-informed yoga, and hands-on assists—all of which shaped how I teach today.

When we moved to Kansas City, I couldn’t find the kind of hot, powerful, transformative yoga experience I had grown to love. So I created it. I opened Indigo Vybe in North Kansas City to fill that gap and to create the kind of space that had once saved me. In 2024, we rebranded as VYBE—Visualize Yourself Better Everyday—because that’s really what it’s about. And in 2025, we added a non-heated studio to expand our offerings and reach more people.

Vybe Yoga is the result of a personal healing journey that became a professional calling. It’s more than a studio—it’s a space for people to come home to themselves.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not even close to a smooth road. In fact, we celebrated our 1-year anniversary during the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders. Our anniversary was April 22, 2020—and by the end of March, everything had shut down. We were just finding our footing as a brand-new studio when the world hit pause.

That first year of what should’ve been growth and celebration turned into survival. We had to pivot quickly—offering Facebook Live classes, creating online communities, and doing absolutely anything we could to stay afloat and keep people connected. Teaching hot yoga in masks, spacing everyone six feet apart, disinfecting constantly—it was intense. Especially for a practice that’s built on breath and presence, those restrictions were tough, but we adapted.

I’ve always leaned toward a more organic, holistic approach to caring for the space—using steam and essential oils to clean—so switching to harsher chemicals during that time felt like a small heartbreak, too. But we did what we had to do to keep our community safe.

That second and third year were just as challenging. Vybe was still in its infancy, and we were navigating uncharted territory. I watched fellow yoga business owners have to close their doors, and my heart broke for them. We were all just trying to hold on to our dreams. It was especially hard as a new studio without the foundation or resources that more established businesses had.

But through it all, our community showed up. They supported us, logged into virtual classes, practiced in masks, and stayed committed. And that resilience shaped who we are today—stronger, more grounded, and more connected than ever.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Vybe Hot Yoga ?
Vybe Yoga is more than a yoga studio—it’s a space for transformation, empowerment, and real connection. We specialize in hot power yoga, but we offer a wide range of classes for all levels, including non-heated vinyasa, slow flow, yin, meditation, and specialty workshops. Our mission is in our name—VYBE stands for Visualize Yourself Better Everyday—and everything we do is built around helping people show up for themselves, mind, body, and soul.

We’re known for the energy in the room. Our classes are challenging, but they’re also deeply supportive. We create a vibe that’s motivating and uplifting, not intimidating. What sets us apart is our commitment to intentional movement, breath, and community. Every class is rooted in functional movement, mindfulness, and self-awareness, and all of our teachers are highly trained in both the physical and energetic aspects of yoga.

We also offer a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training that includes hands-on assist certification, trauma-informed practices, and sequencing grounded in our unique Peak of Power methodology. We don’t just train teachers—we shape conscious leaders.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the way Vybe has grown organically through word of mouth and community connection. People come in for the workout, but they stay because they feel something deeper—they feel seen, empowered, and part of something real.

At Vybe, we hold space for every kind of journey. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or deep in your practice, there’s a place for you here. Our offerings are always evolving, and our vision is big—but the heart of it will always be the same: powerful movement, intentional living, and a community that lifts each other up.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, my husband. He’s been there from day one, helping me literally build the space from the ground up. His support, both physically and emotionally, has kept me going through the hardest moments. I’m so grateful for his belief in me and in the vision.

My longtime friend and studio manager, Drew, has also been a huge part of keeping Vybe running smoothly. He brings organization, heart, and a calming presence to everything he does. I truly don’t know what I’d do without him.

And of course, our incredible instructors—they consistently go above and beyond to create meaningful, powerful experiences in their classes. Their dedication to our students and the community is what makes the studio feel so special.

But most of all, I have to give credit to our students and the community we’ve built together. They are the reason Vybe exists. Their energy, their stories, their commitment to showing up—it’s what inspires me every single day. They’ve created a space that’s welcoming, empowering, and always growing. And we always have room for more.

Vybe has been built by a collective of people who care deeply, and I’m just so proud to be part of it.
