Today we’d like to introduce you to Topher Benjamin.

Hi Topher, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The studio was founded in 2017 by friends Kerri Pomerenke and Lauren Boyd. The two, both former NFL dancers, missed the camaraderie of their dance days and so – as all great startup stories go – a few glasses of wine were had and the idea for Dance Fit Flow was born. Just a few years (and a ton of hard work) later, a shared vision between two friends has grown into a thriving community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Pandemic was a massive obstacle Dance Fit Flow faced in 2020. It came during a time we were gaining momentum as a small woman-owned business and were unexpectedly brought to a stand still. Leaning on our company’s vision and core values, we saw it as an opportunity to care for our local dance community. We quickly deployed a library of virtual classes to keep more people dancing in more places. We utilized a voluntary sponsorship program to offer the virtual classes free for clients and maintained the ability to pay our staff.

Situated in Kansas City’s thriving Crossroads Arts District – Dance Fit Flow is the first and only dance studio exclusively for adults. At Dance Fit Flow it’s always been about more than just taking a dance class. Dance brings us together and the power of community gives us something so much bigger. From hip hop and tap to jazz and ballet, every class is designed to make you feel strong, encouraged and empowered. Dance Fit Flow is locally and women-owned! We are leading a movement for adults to keep their passion for dance alive!

Kerri and Lauren started Dance Fit Flow with a shared vision and a love for dance in 2017. It’s grown into a powerfully positive community!

Topher began as an instructor at Dance Fit Flow, after moving to Kansas City from New York City in 2019. He began his leadership role in the DFF community in 2022. He has been helping build a diverse community with an eclectic movement foundation. Everyone belongs at Dance Fit Flow!
