Daily Inspiration: Meet Claudia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claudia.

Hi Claudia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2014, when I was still living in Peru, I decided to take a makeup course just out of curiosity and I ended up loving it. After I finished, the school director actually asked me to join their team as an instructor. So, after a few weeks of training, I started teaching professional makeup classes at night, while working with my own clients during the day.
Then in 2018, I moved to New York. I took a little break after having my first baby, but I got back into makeup in 2020. We moved to Lawrence in 2023, and after taking a year to get settled, I started promoting my services locally at the beginning of 2024. Since then, I’m really happy to say it’s been going well and the community has been super welcoming.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Moving to a new country was a big change in itself—adapting to a new culture, starting from scratch, building a new client base, and doing it all while raising a family has been challenging at times. When I first moved to New York, I had to pause everything to focus on being a new mom, which was beautiful but also a big adjustment. And then moving again to Lawrence meant starting over once more, new place, new people, new rhythm. It took time to build trust and get my name out there. But honestly, every challenge has pushed me to grow.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a makeup artist, and I specialize in natural glam—bringing out someone’s beauty in a way that still feels like them. I do all kinds of makeup, but I’m especially known for my work with brides and special events. I love creating soft, flawless looks that photograph beautifully but also feel comfortable to wear in real life.

I think most of my bridal clients choose to work with me because they really connect with my style—it’s very elegant, timeless, and clean. It’s the kind of look that still feels beautiful and classic years down the line when they look back at their photos.

What I’m most proud of is the experience I give my clients. I’m not just focused on the final look—I really care about how they feel during the process. I want every person who sits in my chair to feel seen, pampered, and confident.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to trust the process and not rush it. When you’re building something, especially in a new place or from scratch, it’s easy to feel like things should happen faster. But I’ve learned that everything comes in its time, and consistency is more important than speed.

I’ve also learned to value my own style and voice. In the beauty industry, there are so many trends and opinions, but staying true to what I love and what makes my clients feel beautiful has brought me the most fulfillment and success.
