Conversations with Faymis Amira

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faymis Amira.

Hi Faymis, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for music started at birth, I always knew I wanted to sing! In school & church, I was in every choir and honor choir I could get myself into. The plan was to go to school for music, but then life happened in a lot of unexpected ways, and I ended up going a different direction for a while. I got lost. I found my way back to music but had lost belief in myself, so when I did so, I stepped in on the business side of the industry! I did everything from artist/event photography, videography, graphic design, promotions, management, website design, business startup services, artist development, songwriting and running the Kansas City Music Awards to running my own label/entertainment company in Ghana, Africa, before I ever started doing music myself.

Through songwriting for some major international artists, I found my way back to the music! As I would send a record I wrote to an artist, they would hear my voice and I would ALWAYS hear comments back from these huge artists like AH! Why are you not writing for yourself?? I would really question that, and after hearing it so many times I really had to sit down and ask myself WHY I lost the love/confidence in myself to do my music the way I always wanted & dreamed. I sat down and wrote my first song in full, with ease! It was out of love and passion that the universe guided me back to where my heart always was. Through the journey on the business side I learned so much, helped so many, guided a ton, made music with some amazing people & made a few true friends along the way!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. But I wouldn’t want it any other way to be honest. There’s a line I wrote/sang in Dewey Da Don’s song ‘Till It’s Over’ that goes “Got another bag, you know we out here hustlin’. Keep it movin’ on the grind, you know what it is. Here in Killa City (Kansas City) nothing is just given and, wouldn’t want it any other way… We not new to this no, we gunna get it in though!” I think that’s the best way I could have described how it goes. Nothing is given, you have to put in the work and earn, manifest, create your life as you see it.

I’d also quote Rascal Flatts for this, “God blessed the broken road, that led me straight to you.”

I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason! And it is NEVER too late to recognize your truth and follow your dreams/heart!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Faymis Amira is the Intergalatic Sound Goddess. I am a R&B/Neo Soul artist that fuses with every genre! I love all sounds, especially Afropop! I think thats what sets me apart most from others, I will do what I feel. I’m not confined to one genre, one box or idea. I want to make music that people feel, not just hear. My music is all written by myself, and these are literal words from my life, diary or experiences. I always want to be the most genuine and authentic version of myself.

I’m most proud of myself for never giving up on myself, through all of my many phases in life and music. I am showing my kids everyday that if you want it bad enough, it’s yours!

I am currently working on the details of my 3rd international tour, this time hitting 3 countries; USA, Ghana & Nigeria! This will be my first time hitting the Nigerian scene, but my international journey started in Nigeria so the love runs so deep & I can’t wait to see all my friends/music people there very soon!! Ghana is no mystery to me, this will be my 8th trip to my second home where those close to me named me Ewuradowa. I have done 2 tours there so far highlighting my interviews with the one and only Abeiku Santana, as well as shot the music video to my song ‘Ghana’ there at Labadi Beach in Accra Ghana!

Details of my 3rd international tour MARCH ’26 will be released on all my social medias @FaymisAmira

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I am a huge energy person. We are all connected to the universe and to eachother. I feed off of the good energies around me, mainly my children! Being a mother changed my life and made me want to go even harder at absolutely everything. No longer was it just for me, it was for them too. Not only that, now they are learning from my movements. I do all things with my kids in mind, as it will affect them in someway!

I am a huge reader, I love reading about energy exchange, business, and even world religions. I also use Oracle & Tarot cards as well! I like to keep communication with my energy & the universe, as well as prayer. Journaling/writing poems is a huge outlet for me as well! A lot of my songs started as a little poem I wrote along the way.
