Hi Erica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been a planner at heart. The kind of person who genuinely loves a good checklist, thrives on the little details, and feels an odd sense of joy when everything fits perfectly on a timeline. In college, I actually started studying event planning—because bringing order to chaos while creating something beautiful….Total dream job. But when the program unexpectedly got cut, life steered me elsewhere.
Still, I couldn’t help myself. I kept planning and hosting events for friends and family any chance I got. But the moment it all truly clicked? When I planned my own wedding. I poured myself into every detail—and loved every second of it. And in case you’re wondering just how personal I like to get with the details… my husband and I did a PB&J sandwich as our unity ceremony. (Yes, seriously. We both love them—and now we’ll never forget it.)
After that, I jumped into the wedding world part-time, learning the ropes behind the scenes and falling even more in love with the process. And in January 2025, I officially launched my own wedding planning and coordination business! Now I get to help couples bring their vision to life, with all the heart, fun, and flawless execution they deserve.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I officially launched in January 2025, I was full of passion and ready to dive in… but wow, there’s a lot no one really warns you about when you’re starting something from scratch.
I’ve had days where I felt totally on fire—and others where I questioned everything. Building a brand, figuring out pricing, learning how to market myself, juggling a million roles (planner, social media manager, admin, accountant, therapist… you get it)—it’s been a lot. And let’s be real: the pressure to always “have it together” as a business owner is very real. I continue to have and will always have struggles along the way-that’s what makes it beautiful. Not everything will be perfect and I’ve had to tell myself that time and time again. I also reassure myself over and over telling myself I’ll get clients, it’s not going to happen overnight. Everything takes time and effort.
