Community Highlights: Meet Amber of Hazel Eyes Designs, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber.

Hi Amber, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hazel Eyes Designs, LLC began in 2020 after the sudden loss of my sister, Leslie Jean (aka Hazel). COVID graced us with it’s presence immediately afterwards and I was forced into isolation with no idea how to process that loss. My husband bought me a Circuit and I found happiness incorporating creativity into my everyday life. Then… I started making shirts for others. Who has the time or patience to weed HTV? Not me! Who ghosted almost every sublimation item they made? This girl right here!
Discovering DTF transfers was a complete game-changer, BUT… the customer service experiences weren’t always the best… No one wanted to help me if I accidentally left a background on an image or submitted a file with low resolution.. they just printed it anyways and said sorry about your luck! How frustrating?!
While attending the a KC DAX show, I met two amazing ladies. After chatting with them while watching a guy present his tiny expensive DTF printer… I decided to become the person that I needed. I decided to make it a point to help other people not make the same mistakes I did and just waste lots of time and money!
Now, I run this business with the help of my husband (on top of our full-time jobs!) while raising three busy kids.
Here’s what you can expect from us:
We personally check every file you send.
If we spot an issue we can’t fix, we will reach out to you.
If we make a mistake, we’ll own it and make it right.
I’m here to make sure your experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible. I AM HERE FOR YOU!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but every bump and curve has helped shape Hazel Eyes Designs into what it is today.
Hazel Eyes Designs was born from heartbreak, a way to process the deep grief of losing my sister. At the same time the world shut down from COVID, I was navigating isolation, trauma, and motherhood, all while trying to keep it together. What started as a creative outlet with a Cricut machine quickly evolved into something much bigger: a business rooted in healing, purpose, and community.
But building Hazel Eyes Designs hasn’t been easy. There were major learning curves: from understanding DTF printing technology and software calibration to managing order volume, customer communication, and affiliate programs. Juggling a full-time job, being a present mom, and staying committed to a non-toxic lifestyle (especially after my son and I were both diagnosed with Autism) made the journey even more complex.
There were moments of doubt, burnout, tech headaches, supply issues, and days where I just wanted to give up. But what kept me going was my why. Hazel Eyes Designs isn’t just a print shop, it’s a tribute, a safe space, a piece of my heart. Every struggle has been a step forward, and every challenge has made me stronger, more resilient, and more committed to serving my community with authenticity and intention.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was the kind of kid with a big heart, a sharp mind, and a fierce determination, even when life didn’t make things easy. I’ve always been Type A: organized, driven, a bit of a perfectionist, and constantly putting others before myself. I naturally fell into leadership roles, stood up for people I cared about, and noticed things most others overlooked. I carried a lot from a young age, more than people probably realized, but I still found ways to create, connect, and care deeply.
I was drawn to anything expressive or hands-on, even if I didn’t always have an outlet for it. I often felt different or misunderstood, but instead of letting that break me, I used it to push myself harder, learn more, and carve out my own space in the world.
Looking back, I can see how that mix of resilience, thoughtfulness, and quiet creativity laid the foundation for what would one day become Hazel Eyes Designs.
