Community Highlights: Meet Kellie Ann Petroshak of Hugs N’ Snugs KC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Ann Petroshak.

Hi Kellie Ann, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started Hugs N’ Snugs after several years of pet sitting. I had built up enough wonderful clients that I felt comfortable leaving my job to pursue my dream: petting as many dogs as I can. I was blown away by the immediate support. I regularly have clients, both old and new, asking for pet care. I care for pets full time now and I hope I am able to continue my dream for as long as possible.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I transition from a full time job at a veterinary clinic to full time pet sitting there was a period of time where I doubted myself. I was worried that leaving a regular paycheck to having a chaotic schedule. My clients, however, have been consistent, kind, and comfortable enough to continue booking. The trust I have been able to built between pets and their pet parents has meant a busy schedule and I am so thankful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Hugs N’ Snugs KC?
I’m the owner of Hugs N’ Snugs KC, a full-time pet sitting business based in Kansas City. I’ve always had a passion for animals, which is why I spent three years working at a veterinary clinic before making the leap to full-time pet sitting. What started as a hobby is now my dream job! I specialize in caring for all kinds of pets, but I’ve really honed in on working with nervous dogs. I offer something I call “happy visits,” where I get to know the pet while their owner is still around, building trust and easing any anxiety before their parents leave.

What sets Hugs N’ Snugs KC apart is my focus on personalized care. I truly believe that every pet is unique, and I make sure they feel safe and loved while their parents are away. Whether it’s overnight stays, drop-in visits, or walks, I’m there to ensure your pet has the best experience possible. My goal is to make every pet feel comfortable, whether they’re shy or outgoing, so their owners can have peace of mind while they’re at work or on vacation.

I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come since starting this business. Growing from an inconsistent side gig into a full-time job has been such an exciting journey. At the heart of Hugs N’ Snugs KC is a commitment to providing the highest quality care, with a special emphasis on building trust and making pets feel right at home. Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have found that the more transparent and authentic as I can be when I am meeting new pet parents and pets, the more trust I am able to build with them. I am willing to spend time with pet parents to work with shy pets. And, I send consistent updates about pets while the pet parents are away. Whether they wants an end of the day recap or several pictures a day – I want to be there for them and let them know they can trust me to meet their individual wants and needs for pet care.
