Meet Jessica Taylor of Crossroads Chiropractic & Wellness Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Taylor.

Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In 2005, just a few years out of college, I found myself working in advertising but feeling completely unfulfilled. I knew I wanted something more, but I wasn’t sure what that “more” was. I considered becoming an attorney, so I started studying for the LSAT, not even knowing what area of law I wanted to pursue. All I knew was that I wasn’t being challenged or satisfied in my current career.

Then, one evening, fate intervened. My husband and I went to dinner with some friends we hadn’t seen in a while, and one of them was in chiropractic school. As I listened to him talk about his journey, everything suddenly clicked. I had always found relief from seeing chiropractors, and the idea of helping people feel better resonated deeply with me. I had also always dreamed of owning my own business, and owning a practice seemed like the perfect way to make that dream a reality.

Within months, I quit my job, packed up my life, and moved to Kansas City to attend chiropractic school. It was an intense journey — school ran 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., five days a week, year-round for three years. My social life took a hit, and my husband and I ate a lot of Hamburger Helper, but every sacrifice was worth it.

Now, as a chiropractor, I can honestly say I love what I do. Helping people feel better is more fulfilling than I ever could have imagined. Knowing that I’m making a difference in people’s lives gives me purpose, and every day is a good day the moment I see my first patient!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but it’s certainly been one that’s required a lot of hard work, determination, and grit. I’ve put in the hours — long days, hitting the pavement, shaking hands, and networking tirelessly. I wear many hats. As a chiropractor, I’m focused on helping my patients all day, but running a business means I’m also juggling marketing, bookkeeping, office management, HR, and often, stepping in as the handywoman when needed. It’s not an easy path, and it’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but every bit of effort has been worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Crossroads Chiropractic & Wellness Center?
Crossroads Chiropractic is not just a chiropractic office; it’s a holistic wellness center dedicated to helping our patients achieve lasting health and vitality. While many of our patients come to us seeking relief from pain, our approach goes beyond simply eliminating discomfort. We focus on identifying the root cause of the problem, stabilizing it, and preventing it from recurring.

Many of the issues we treat stem from repetitive habits—how you sit at work, spend hours at a computer, or even how you sleep. Activities like traveling, running, or golfing can also contribute to imbalances. Since these factors often can’t be avoided entirely, we work proactively to stay ahead of the problem. Our goal is to improve posture, strengthen muscles that support key areas, and stretch tight muscles.

At Crossroads, we offer a range of therapies tailored to our patients unique needs. Our corrective exercise specialist addresses biomechanical and muscular imbalances, while spinal decompression helps with disc issues and sciatica. Cold laser therapy, Graston technique, and kinesiotaping are used to target pain and soft tissue injuries.

Ultimately, our mission is to empower patients with the tools and support they need—both in the office and at home—to take charge of their health. Together, we work as a team to help them reach their wellness goals and enjoy a pain-free, active lifestyle.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Reaching out to more experienced professionals when you’re starting out can be incredibly valuable. I recommend joining a few networking groups and getting involved with your local Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to naturally build relationships with individuals who have a mentorship mindset, as those connections can lead to genuine, supportive guidance.
