Today we’d like to introduce you to Dannie Loth.
Hi Dannie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey with photography started long before it ever became a business. I grew up in Nigeria and attended a boarding high school where I would sneak in cameras and film just so I could capture the little moments with my friends. There was something magical about freezing time and being able to relive those memories later.
After moving to Kansas in 2008, I pursued photography more seriously, eventually gaining experience in commercial and fashion photography. That background really shaped the way I see light, composition, and storytelling. But it wasn’t until I photographed my first wedding that everything clicked. There’s something incredibly special about being trusted to document one of the most important days in someone’s life. It’s a huge responsibility—but also such an honor.
I’ve now built my wedding photography business here in the Kansas City Metro area with a focus on delivering vibrant, crisp, and timeless images. But more than that, I truly enjoy connecting with couples, learning about their vision, and being a calm, supportive presence on their big day. It’s been a journey of growth, learning, and a whole lot of heart, and I’m so thankful to be doing what I love.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say I’ve been fortunate overall. I’ve had so much support from friends, family, and other industry professionals who believed in me and encouraged my growth—that’s made a world of difference. I truly love what I do, and that passion has helped me build strong, lasting relationships with my couples.
I aim to be a steady, calming presence for my couples and other vendors. Weddings can come with their own kinds of stress, so I do everything I can to be that reliable person they can count on—before, during, and even after the big day.
If there’s one area I’ve had to work harder at, it’s staying up to date with social media. I get so caught up in serving my clients, editing their galleries, and being present in the creative process that I sometimes forget to share the behind-the-scenes moments as well as the images. But I’m learning to make space for that too, because it’s another way to connect with people and share the heart behind what I do.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My goal as a wedding and portrait photographer is simple: to create vibrant, beautiful, and crisp images that couples and clients can cherish for a lifetime. My background is in commercial and fashion photography, which definitely influences how I approach a wedding day—from the way I use light and composition to the attention I give to even the smallest details.
But beyond the technical side, what really matters to me is connection. I take the time to truly get to know my couples. I want to understand their vision, their personalities, and the little touches that make their wedding uniquely theirs. That open line of communication helps me not only tell their story authentically but also be a calm and grounding presence on such an emotional day.
What sets me apart is that blend of creative polish and personal care. I treat each wedding like it’s the only one on my calendar, because for that couple—it is. They’ve poured so much love and thought into the day, and it deserves to be documented with just as much heart.
What I’m most proud of isn’t any one photo or event—it’s the trust couples place in me to be there for such a meaningful moment in their lives. That never gets old, and it’s a responsibility I carry with deep gratitude.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is that when I’m not behind the camera, I’m probably either buried in a book or out on a long run. I’m an avid reader—I average over 60 books a year—and I especially love historical and speculative fiction with a dash of thriller/mystery as a palate cleanser. It’s my favorite way to unwind and refuel creatively.
I also enjoy staying active and have run two half marathons so far. I’m currently training for my first full marathon, which has been its own kind of journey in discipline and mental toughness—like photography, in a way. Both require vision, consistency, and a whole lot of heart.
