Daily Inspiration: Meet Tonsil

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonsil

Hi Tonsil, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Tonsil began as a project quite a few years ago, but I had to overcome many years of anxiety before I was able to release music and start making content publicly. Starting in late 2023 I started posting vocal covers on Tiktok and other social media, and I have found a fantastic and dedicated fanbase there. I released six songs last year, and I am working on new material for this year.

Aside from music, I’m really in love with crafting and design, which is one reason why I wear a decorative headpiece. It’s not so much about hiding my identity (tho I am a private person), it’s more about creating a unique visual style, a billboard for my skills, and a way to prioritize the sound of my voice over my appearance.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As mentioned, anxiety has been my curse my entire life. But things took a 180° turn when I found a great therapist and got diagnosed and medicated for severe GAD. I encourage anyone struggling with mental health issues to seek assistance ASAP. It takes some work but I promise your life with improve.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I take pride in my high vocal range, and I cover and emulate women vocalists as often as possible. I float between musical genres, but I was raised on alternative/metal/emo music so that is always at the center, but I write with pop accessibility whenever possible. My music always has an intensely emotional beating heart, I don’t really make music that is in the middle of emotions. Always one of the extremes.

How do you define success?
Quite frankly, success would just be making a small income making music, enough that I can build my own studio/workshop and create whatever I want in perpetuity. As a creative person, I have to be making something or life just feels wrong. That’s the only success I need, anything else is a lucky bonus.
