Our story is one of courage, passion, and the unbreakable bond of sisterhood. It’s about daring to dream, taking risks, and building something beautiful together.
Taylor here—I started my journey in the world of technology, graduating from Monroe College with a degree in Computer Science and working as a software engineer for three years. While I enjoyed the challenges of the tech world, I always felt a deeper pull toward creativity and connection. Even during college, I worked part-time at a nail salon to help pay my tuition, and I continued doing nails on weekends even after starting my engineering job. Nail artistry became my creative sanctuary—a way to express myself and bring joy to others.
Chloe, my sister and my greatest inspiration, has over a decade of experience as a nail technician in some of the most competitive markets—New York City and Washington DC. Her dedication to her craft and her ability to make every client feel special has always amazed me. When we moved from DC and NYC to Kansas, we found a community that felt like home. It was here that we decided to chase our shared dream of opening a nail salon—a place where beauty, artistry, and connection could come together.
Taking that leap wasn’t easy. Leaving behind the stability of my tech career was a risk, and there were moments of doubt and fear. But Chloe’s unwavering belief in me and in our dream gave me the courage to keep going. Together, we poured our hearts into creating Mon Chéri Nail Salon.
Mon Chéri is more than just a business—it’s a reflection of who we are. Chloe’s precision and expertise, combined with my love for design and creativity, have created a space where clients don’t just leave with beautiful nails, but with a sense of confidence and joy. I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Every journey has its challenges, and ours has been no exception. One of the hardest moments was when Taylor left her stable career in software engineering to pursue our dream of opening Mon Chéri. It was a leap of faith, and there were days filled with doubt and fear. But deep down, we knew this was our calling—a chance to create something beautiful and meaningful together.
Another struggle was finding our place in a new community. When we moved to Kansas, we were strangers in a new town, trying to build trust and connections from scratch. It wasn’t easy, but we poured our hearts into creating a space where people could feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Slowly, we began to see the impact of our efforts—one smile, one conversation, one client at a time.
Looking back, those struggles shaped us in ways we never imagined. They taught us resilience, the power of sisterhood, and the importance of staying true to our vision. Now, when we see the joy on our clients’ faces, we’re reminded why we started this journey. Every challenge, every tear, every moment of doubt was worth it—because it led us here, to a place where beauty and connection come together.

Our nail salon is a place where beauty and relaxation comes together. Our goal is to provide our clients with not only stunning nails but also an experience they won’t forget.

What sets us apart is our commitment to using only the best products and providing a personalized approach to every client. Our team of skilled technicians take the time to understand each customer’s needs, ensuring they leave with exactly what they envisioned. Whether it’s the perfect French tip, a bold nail are designed, or a relaxing spa treatment, we pride ourselves on delivering impeccable results.

When you step through our doors, you will be greeted by our techs. We don’t see our clients as just our customers. We see them as our friends and our family. We share our lives with them as they share their lives with us. We have clients from all ages so we are able to experience different stages of their beautify lives. Some of our clients have graduated high school or college. Some have gotten marriage and some have had kids or even grandkids. All of this is to say, we are one big community and we feel like we are all in this journey together.

What we are most proud of is the community we have built. Mon Cheri isn’t just a nail salon, it is a place where people to to feel beautiful, confident, and be cared for. Seeing our clients leave with a smile on their faces is the most rewarding part of what we do.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Here’s our advice: Dream big, start small, and keep going. Success isn’t about overnight wins—it’s about showing up every day, even when it’s hard. When we started Mon Chéri, we had big dreams, but we learned that the real magic happens in the small, consistent steps forward. Celebrate every win, no matter how small, because they add up to something extraordinary.
We also wish we had known earlier that asking for help isn’t a weakness—it’s a superpower. No one does it alone, and leaning on others can turn your struggles into strengths. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, challenge you, and lift you up.
But the most important thing? Follow your passion. When you love what you do, it fuels you through the tough times. For us, our love for nail artistry and our dream of creating a space where people feel beautiful and valued have been our driving force. It’s what keeps us going, even on the hardest days.
